It's the same as anything, there are a lot of pretentious people who have personalised plates, probably much more so than people who do know about cars, but I'd still like one some day when I haven't got a better use for £250. Since the plate system changed to XX00XXX I've always thought they look a lot uglier than they used to.

They do vary wildly I was looking at k155 and m155 for the mrs and ended up spending about 900 quid but she puts up with me keep changing cars (record is 11 days in a 3 series coupe!) and going to the pub lol.
Love my Z but already eying up a couple of M3 4.0's lol.
Given the work you put into the Zed it deserves a special plate and that's a great choice

So they are on I had a day off work. So I got a few things done remade my spoiler and messed around with the car and workshop all day it was MM heaven :

Sorry but they look odd and are likely to attract police attention, especially the front one.
They are both illegal as you have a strange font on the front plus the spacing is all wrong and you've trimmed the plates too much.
- Characters must be 79mm tall
- Characters (except the number 1 or letter I) must be 50mm wide
- The character stroke (the thickness of the black print) must be 14mm
- The space between characters must be 11mm
- The space between the age identifier and the random letters must be 33mm
- The margins at the top, bottom and side of the plate must be 11mm
- Vertical space between the age identifier and the random numbers must be 19mm
The following must be displayed:
- The British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d)
- The name, trademark or other way of identifying the manufacturer or supplier
- The name and postcode of the supplying outlet
Penalties are a fine up to £1000 and in some cases the registration number may be permanently withdrawn.

yeah the front plate is just a stick on job. The spacing between the 1 and the 5 is dodgy and i have cut it down a bit to much. This will be staying on the car until i figure out how i can attach my legal one.
The rear one is i suppose my show plate. And i have made it so it just fits on over the legal one. I have cut them both down. But the proper spaced one has the correct size letters and spacings and the margin is actually correct. It has all the BS number and the suppliers name.
