E89 Windscreen Washers

Cleaned out my washer tank. Worth while job as lots of black stuff at the bottom and filters doing their job as half bunged up!
Was interesting to see the windshield pump had quite a small filter say 10mm dia by 20mm. Whereas the headlamp washer was 15mm dia by about 40mm long.
I found a dustpan brush fitted through the filler hole to clean the inside of tank.
Filled tank with some Halfords cherry smelling red stuff. Initially not too impressed as it smears across the windscreen.

I finally got around to cleaning mine out today taken a few pictures Ill make a how to if tapatalk comes back to the forum.

My son had a similar problem in his Porsche, when he told me I thought he was daft, how wrong could I be.

Anyhow, he could get the one washer jet cleared and ended up ordering a new part.

I kind of agree now with the suggestion, to flush through with water before adding any other form of washer fluid now.

Thanks guys - I had been told by BMW service that they charge an hour's time to unblock the filters because (quote) 'they needed to take the front wheel off and remove the wheel arch cover to get the water bottle out".

Today I followed the instructions on here and had my washer jets working perfectly in 30 mins without touching the wheel!

I was amazed at the blue slime that had blocked the washer filter - really gunky! Oddly the larger headlamp washer filter was clean as a whistle.
