Hello everyone!
Here is some news about my car and the roof that refused to open.
The hydraulic unit compartment was drowned, the leaking taillight seals were changed.
The hydraulic unit was in a bad state but I didn’t change it. A handyman friend has completely “cleaned” and reinstalled it. He managed to open the roof in part until a fuse slammed. The part in question was the "electrical distributor with fuse" (Ref 61149192164) located just to the right of the battery.
We replaced this part, and the roof was working properly.
Unfortunately, last week, it started working erratically.
Here is the description of my concern, I know it happened a lot...
It works properly from time to time, but more and more often, here’s what happens: when I try to open, the opening sequence is done entirely, but the last step (= windows up) don’t happen, and the red opening light flashes red and the trunk remains locked, the windows refuse to open.
When I try to close, the roof closes, but usually stops in the intermediate position, 1st part of the closed roof, rear window above it...
And I can repeat the sequences several times, without success.
Last night, we could not close it anymore, so we wanted to put the car in the shelter in his garage, it’s a bit “bumpy” and when I was finished parking the car, I tried one last time and the roof closed totally, properly...
It is very similar to an opening/closing sensor problem...
Visually, the wiring looks really clean.
Here is the diagnosis OBD Bimmer Link
A69E: Speed too high ok, normal, I drove with the problem
A698: Top hatch open ok, normal
A6A3: temperature sensor the hydraulic unit motor is hot, it is functional, but it has suffered, I will have to change it
A694: Hall sense VSW8 it looks like the culprit!
This is the Bimmerlink diagnosis, but when you look for this error code, you find for “ctm_89” Microswitch ‘cowl panel reached’ for A694
Voili sailou
I will check the beam even closer, but especially watch the microswitch "B 3" 'cowl panel reached'
