E89 Roof won't go into boot - No codes

Good afternoon,

I own an E89

Last week when opening my roof the clam shell lifted and went over the main roof no problem.

Boot lid opened and started to lift however this is where it would go wrong - the clam shell would start moving straight away and would strike the boot lid causing a jam.

It would shut fine from this position. On scanning it i found the fault A696 as per usual on the driver side ram.

Using the guides here i replaced both hall sensors on this ram with the 1 series sensors, the second sensor (one nearest the boot lid) on close inspection had broken wiring and when i touched it it came apart right at the plug.

Both changed and wired in (i just cut the plugs out and soldered them direct to avoid any further contact issue's) and the fault cleared.

Now however the clam shell comes up and over, boot lid opens fully to max height but the shell doesn't then move off the roof.

The pump can be hard buzzing away but nothing happens. If i pause and press the button again it just flashes red. There are however no fault codes.....

So im a bit lost as to what i could have done wrong or what is wrong now?

I guess if there sensors where wired the wrong way around they wouldn't work at all and i would again have fault codes ?

Sensors (I am 99% sure) aren’t positive or negative so should be ok

It’s more likely, assuming that it was working ok before, that something else is at fault

When I encountered this issue the front shell motor had failed and wouldn’t unlock

May be worth checking that is serviceable

So turns out the sensors are wired in a specific way.

When i fitted them i matched them left/right to left and right on the loom albeit the colours didn't match.

I read somewhere to ignore this and just wire them colour to colour etc and its worked. All back functioning ok.

That is not correct!

This may be ignored for microswitches, but never ever for hall sensors.

Yes, that is written in the HowTo for these hallsensors:
⌛ Prepare E88 hall sensors for E89 use
