Where did you get them from? I am guessing you fitted OEM not Ebay specials!R.E92 said:Replaced mine on the weekend. The old ones were in good shape considering they are 10 years old, should get another 10 years out of these.
That only applies if you are operating the roof with the engine turned offscootr said:I think low battery operation would have a big impact on arcing because ohms law.Pbondar said:RobbiZ4 said:Cool. Indeed these contacts look better than in the average relay.
But no wonder, your car is only from 2012!
I think it spent a lot of its life in Manchester..an area with high rainfall...so probably the roof was never operated..![]()
I wonder how much contribution motoring the roof with a low battery contributes to induction arcing?![]()
Your roof was down on a sunny day in 2013 and again in 2015

ParkLane BMW's online spares dept is still open. I've just ordered some. £16.09 each plus £4.99 postage. Might as well get them done now !!mcbutler said:Where did you get them from? I get two different salmon relays appear when I do the search using my VIN as confirmation.
Are both the relays identical or did you buy one of each?
They both have the same part number but diferent PID numbers!!
Confused

I was worried when I though they were some different Amp rating but previous comments confirmed these numbers after the date are just manufacturers numbering.
With camera on full magnifcation I couldn't see any real sign of pitting on the lower contact but who knows?
The old ones were marked as being from 2009 so maybe I've been lucky?
New ones ordered from Hubauer in Germany... Super excellent service and I'll be using them again..
