Hi

My z4 has a roof fault that im going to get looked at in the new year, probably another sensor.

The car is constantly playing a warning beep constantly while driving, any way to disable the beep, the switch also flashes which is fine, its just the beep warning thats very annoying.

Thanks

Does the top still go up and down properly?

I'm going to guess at NO. :)

OP. The 'bong' should stop after a couple of minutes of driving, even with the red fault light flashing.

no the roof is not working when the press the button, so im getting the warning beep the whole time in driving over the speakers!

so just wondered if there a fuse to take out or a way to stop this warning untill i can get the roof fixed?

No, I don’t think there is.

Unfortunately not.
We are only able to pull the fuse of the amplifier, which will kill every audio signal/radio/warning.

Depending of the mounted hifi system fuse 15 or 69 has to be pulled. Only one of them is plugged, so it's easy going.

Handy to know. Thanks.

Oddly both fuse 15 and 69 are already removed on my Z4!? So, at a loss which fuse is actually making that annoying bong sound. Was stuck in traffic for almost 4 hours listening to it. ARGH!

Any ideas which other fuse controls the bong sound for the exact same issue?

It doesn't. One needs to pull the fuse which kills all audio.

Where is the beeper, can we just bash a nail through it?
Never noticed does it come through the speakers?

All warning tones are fed through the car’s audio system….so pulling the fuse to the amp section disables that

Not yet, but I heard about a third amplifier variation.
Just have a look at your fuse card on the fuse box which additional fuse is noted at the radio symbol.

Interesting. I plan to change my battery (I have another post going re the age code), maybe need to look at the alternator too, as I suspect that the beep I’m getting is related to inconsistent power supply rather than the roof actually being unlatched. I can sometimes clear the error with my OBD device but it comes back after a few days, anyway I only get the beep when moving, all quiet as soon as the car comes to a halt, and so far it hasn’t stopped on any journey after a period of time.

Might now try pulling the audio fuse until I can:
a) get a battery
b) open the boot again
c) get the new battery coded.

I have to say that I’m really getting tired of these issues and it’s making me and the Mrs wonder whether to call time on our Z4 ownership…

I doubt its the alternator..they are generally pretty good and if they fail it tends to be final!
