E89 road prescence

having owned and driven my 35is now for some 8 months and can now say after getting rid of my m which I thought was a big mistake .but now think its the best thing I could have done .35is looks better drives better looks great with roof up or down
makes everyone look at it with the sound from the exhausts . Its a car for what ever way you want to drive it on a track on the road being a mad head or just a cruise round .(35 or 35is a perfect car in every way) e85 /86 is still up there and far better than most sports cars on the road

People I work with know what a Z4 is and then see mines and go ah yours is the hard top one. I thought you had a convertible? And I also get where do you store the roof when you take it off? What about if it rains? :headbang: even my mate who had an E85 and knows that the Z4 was replaced thought that because he had only seen pictures with the roof down and assumed it would be a rag top.

But yes you do get some looks as you go by people. Mike had a man at Weatherby Services last July come up to him whilst I was inside, all excited asking if it was the new Z4 (by then already had been out 5 years) the guy was totally in love, even more so when he realised it had a 'proper engine' as he called it.

You would think that the guttering and the seams would make it obvious that it's a hard-top convertible. I always thought the first Mercedes SLK showed the world the new car form that made non-powered tops die in the 90's but it seems many people still live under a cave.

i've been driving around most days with my roof up as like most have said it looks a lot nicer with it up but when i did put it down, the showers kicked in so i had to put it back up again

but yeah i think they have a fabulous road presence and look very special when on the road if they are in m sport spec and a bright colour. whenever i think about replacing mine, i cant find anything special enough to replace it with in the same 50k price bracket

They do look the part with the roof up agreed but sound much better with the roof down

These are the wheels i put on.....

Looks pretty sharp. Better than the OEM 326's.

What width and offsets are they please? Also tyre sizes...................?

Thanks

Really like the front of the E89 when you are in front of it - agreed real presence with its DRLs particularly in low light - remember coming across the A82 on a forum run with one behind and it looked stunning .

I think the M4 has managed a similar feat from the front as well.

Will have to pull out the bill of sale for offsets but the are staggered 8.5 front and 9.5 rear...

The wheels are a lot nicer in the flesh, it's hard to catch them just right with a photo

Oh ...

Tyres 265/30/19 and 235/35/19

Thanks, they're about the only tyre size that make sense in terms of minimising speedo error with that width of wheel and still have a sensible sidewall height. There are some great looking 20" wheels around but I don't want my car looking like it's rolling on the rims. :o

If you do happen to come across the offsets I'd be grateful for the info.

They look very similar to an offering from "anamotors" but trying to get a reply from them is proving long winded.

(Apologies to the OP for thread drift, but it's sort of linked to "Road Prescence").

No need Bob, it's more interesting than the crap I write.....

I think we're good. They look like the 19" Staggered M5 F10 Style Wheels, Gun Metal / Machined Face on the CM site.

"To fit - 3 Series - E90 / E91 / E92 / E93
- 5 Series - F10
Specification
Front - 19x8.5 ET35
Rear - 19x9.5 ET33 - Deeper Concave
Price - £520"

Ring a bell? Did they actually confirm fitment for your car.....?

Been looking at the E89 more and more just recently. Given the relative cost you can get a three litre for now, that interior and those looks (with the right wheels), are starting to look pretty sweet.

Looking on here you get a mixed bag of results for the E89.

Personally I love the shape and the car overall - bias declared.
I still see my old E85 and still think it's a lovely looking car .
Both 3.0l
