Is there a e89 register of models & colours in the uk. Like the e85/86 numbers ?

It continually surprises me how much info people are prepared to share on here bearing in mind they don't know the majority of people registered as members
I realise I am scarred from a couple of break ins where I lost a lot of things of sentimental value but there is no way I want any info other than my first name available to all.

This wouldn't help - the fact that personal data of this amount was stored in any format (it doesn't have to be accessible via the internet) would require registration under the Data Protection act... and I think we'd find it just too much hassle!Taz said:a database could be set up on a pc that as no internet connection and could be used only for tracing the history.
My comments were based on the example database posted earlier; basic car details & non-specific location would be fineTaz said:how personal does it need to be before its covered uder data protection?
may be just car details, owner surname and rough location of the vehicle, this would not give too much away
It's not what people are "comfortable with" that's the issue, it's the rules of the Data Protection Act that are applied to the person taking responsibility for storing the data. The more data that people were "comfortable with providing" the more likely that the database would need to be registered. I'm not saying that it's not possible, it would just need to be taken into account.Taz said:so off the example people could fill in what they feel comfortable with?
