E89 Market watch

somethings fishy, using autotrader valuer or gov mot history there's nothing under that reg, when you use the other given in the ad it comes up with something completely different.. everything on his other ads looks too cheap too, 16 plate ford ranger pick up for 7.5k? scammer ad methinks

That reg crosses to a Blue Z4 on Gov site

Doom blue E89 with beige trim, not great on miles or owners...Cheap but not far off

If you check out the other vehicles for sale, all of the contact emails are different. Screams s**t scam

seeing that colour combination in the flesh its really nice...

Well you’ve both got taste just like me, with your view on this and Papa_Zee with your purchase choice, we’ll just ignore [ref]mr.tourette[/ref], on this occasion

Haha.. Ignore away mate.. Be a boring old world if we all liked the same thing... I agree you do all have taste.. Just not the great kind :D :fuelfire:
I on the other hand am known far and wide as the master of good taste.. Its practically my middle name :D
Hey, dont listen to me anyways, I've got a boring white one with black interior not as adventurous as you dandies with your Atacama yellows, mojave browns and valencia Oranges

When I saw that I was either waiting for a Cat S/C, 150k miles, engine or roof fault or one of those scam ads with one picture and the typed email only contact. Surely got to be a scam at that price.

Onto another, marmite I know, but I think this is a lovely looking car and not too badly priced

Well its got the right interior, defo a marmite colour though, i just think brown doesn't belong on a car, always makes me think of those 1970s Austin Allegro :D

That is Havanna Brown. I actually like it, I think is suits the shape of the E89 pretty well and goes well with the cream interior.

Mine and [ref]clarker63[/ref], old car, quite surprised that it’s stayed within the Sytner group after being traded in.

Even though it was a nice car in good condition inside and out, I’d have expected a 23i at that age to go to trade but they’ve spent a bit of money on it and it’s now up at a rather ambitious ask

What did they spend on it (apart from putting the whippy back on?)? looks identical to when you bought it! :D

The wheels have all been refurbished, it needed new tyres and the rear springs needed replaced for its MOT. I’d ordered new springs for it but there was a mix up and the ones they sent were the wrong ones and by the time they delivered the right ones the car was away.

It didn’t need anything major. All stuff that was in hand if I’d been keeping it but no point in spending money just to,trade it in

 That’s the original whippy back on it, I took the stubby off incase I wanted to change the one on the 35. I did after 2 weeks, I couldn’t get used to seeing it in the wing mirror

Still looking bloody good though and not a mark or ding on it

I miss that one, despite the (relative) lack of performance and being a bit bland (in comparison with the VO ones we both have). What style wheels did you go for - I like them..

Like you I miss it too, it was a great car. Once I got used to it there were times I wanted a bit more go and the stereo system needed upgraded, apart from that

I went for brand new OE 276’s I paid just over £500 for the full set delivered then another £120 for the new TPMS sensors that I sent you the link for. Totally preventative purchase as I wasn’t comfortable with how the 326’s would fare on Argyll roads.

I really like them and they’re great to clean.

Blimey, thats cheap isnt it for original BMW ones? are they staggered?

Looking on the website, theyre £1500 not 500.. did you miss a 1? :D

Yes it’s a cracking deal. Brand new original BMW in the boxes, yes staggered, same size as 296/326’s

Here’s the post I did when I originally bought them as they were for the 23i as previously mentioned they needed a refurb so at this price I decided to replace

The can still be picked up at a reasonable cost, this is just one I had in my watch items but they can be sourced cheaper

This was also raised in a recent topic so might be worth contacting the poster of this to see where he got these prices as they’re even cheaper than mine

Crikey you're right! £61.50 for the fronts and £126 for the rears for the 276's.

found them. on the BMW shop would you believe it, although its only the 19s that are that price (which I wont buy on principle as they appear to be a problem size), and they say dont fit the 35is... strange. almost looks like a mistake on their website as all others are 300+ each!

Good, yes it does seem like a mistake when you see the prices. I know, a bit of an anomaly at 18’s are close to 2 grand and 17’’s about 1500. Re fitting, they’re on mine with no issues and do fit and are the same fitting as the 326’s as per pictures

Not that it matters to me but the 276’s are slightly lighter

Now you’ve found them does this mean there’s new wheels incoming

No, I went for the 19’s as they don’t seem to have the same issues as the others re cracking.

Upped the width slightly on the replacement tyres which gives a bit more protection to the rims by increasing the sidewall

and for anyone who was following this post... I phoned the dealer, and they are no longer available. so the price is irrelevant! Shame at those prices I would have bought them..

Feeling a bit smug these past few days, as I spotted a 35i on Gumtree incorrectly advertised as a 30i - 67k on the clock, iDrive, heated electric seats, extended ivory, folding mirrors, 3 owners, etc etc. Up for £10450, but as it's on run flats, MOT up in a couple of months, the weather is miserable and it could do with a service, wondered whether 9k might snag it.

Popped over to see it today. The seller had made very little effort to sell it, clearly not washed properly for a long time, green grime growing on the boot lid, wheel wells full of mud, alloys caked in dirt. I'd be fairly confident they're not a forum member so grim details to follow.

Lack of washing aside, just wow. This 'great condition' (advert) 'pretty much perfect' (phone call) car has:

Scrape along LHS - has caught front wing, side skirt, rear quarter
Rusting chip to the bare metal, off side quarter
Hole in the wind deflector
Filthy seats - minor rip/hole in the driver's side.
Rattle on start up - possibly exhaust flap related? (no experience of this model)
Mis-fire on start up - stopped after a couple of minutes, surely not normal?
Swarm of crickets in the boot, roof up. Believe this is seals/moving parts needing attention - unbelievably loud.
Some kind of motion related grinding noise from the drivetrain - similar to badly rusted discs.
Rear run flats are both nearly on the wear indicator.
Passenger window catches and reverses when completing the roof cycle, both times attempted.
Rear parcel shelf net thingy missing.

On the plus side, it sounded lovely 😁. To give some balance, it has had new battery and front brakes recently, boot area was completely dry (one rear light replaced) and is relatively well specified (cruise control and USB port missing, however) . Didn't bother looking through paperwork to see evidence of any common issues addressed. Noises aside, it drove fairly well and felt nicely quick - steering heavier than mine.

Avoid at all costs - unless you're looking for a project and the price drops dramatically. Advert still live, in Pontypool - pretty sure I haven't seen it on other selling platforms. Honestly wouldn't have given £6k for it. Got back in my relatively clean and tidy car with renewed appreciation.

(also concluded 100% I don't want a manual gearbox ever again, and orion silver isn't for me)

HPI report can be emailed if anyone is dabbling.

Yuck.
