E89 Market watch

Price are getting surprising, so just out of interest, not planning to sell, but my 35iS October 2010. 78K miles, Space Grey red interior. Has I think most of the options, looks like Connectivity Package, Comfort package, Pro Nav and Multimedia. What does that make it around £16K ??

I had an accident in mine recently and whilst the damage is quite limited the cost of new replacement parts is very high, the insurance algorithm used to automatically decide it fate determined it should be assessed as a total loss. Fortunately through determined discussion I have managed to make them see sense and get it repaired. Whilst this was going on I decided to turn back on my AT search with notifications to determine what I would need to value the car at to replace it or calculate repair.

The value I determined I needed was circa £18K to replace it but was dependant on the market then, maybe £17k offsetting the age at mine is also a 2010 car. Colour and spec make a massive difference on value so I'd personally say yours sounds like a desirable example, assuming heated seats which is a must for me.

I don't expect the market to decline until at least the back end of the year and even then stay pretty static. The demand is relatively high and supply is quite low which drives up the price.

I also ran an insurance quote recently and the website calculates value automatically, mine came out at £7295  for ease I added a 1 in front of the 7.

IMO £16k should be easily achieved, not that you are selling it

Yep heated memory seats with bolster adjust, don't have extended leather, well I don't think I have, no DAB, other than that seems to have most stuff. Plus new oem adaptive dampers, Eibach springs, DBA from disks, hoses and new battery ! Yeah the parts cost are quite high !!

So popped mine onto EBay a couple of days ago, bought by the first person to view earlier this evening.

On the hunt for a nice 4 seat convertible now. Won’t be as exciting as the Z4, but hopefully can make some happy family memories.

I’m going to stay on the forum as I will be back in a Zed at some point

Congrats on the sale, saw it on eBay and it looked stunning and not surprised it went quickly

What do you fancy next, been looking at these lately --- https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104221675791?model=4%20SERIES&radius=200&make=BMW&body-type=Convertible&sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&aggregatedTrim=M%20Sport&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&postcode=np45xf&include-delivery-option=on&page=5

I want a fun convertible with 4 useable seats, 2 adults 2 teenagers... realistically, doesn’t need to be a sports car as such, as I’m not sure many 4 seater convertible’s really handle properly, ...but I do like quick cars.

Possibly something simple like a 125i as they have the 3.0 N52K engine and can be unrestricted from 218BHP to 265BHP... not as fast as an E85 Si, but still good fun. Not sure about a 135i as seemingly troublesome

Is there enough room for two teens in the back of a 1 series - not much room on our coupe

My girls are cut from my DNA which, sadly for them, means height is in limited supply

I have a DD Lexus IS300h and my 2 teens moan. The 1 should be even smaller...

My kids would not have gone far in a 1 series due to space that's for certain :D

As previously discussed, time for the car that suits your current needs, I do think the 1 series will be too small no matter how vertically challenged you say you all are

Still saying a petrol 6 series if it was me needing 4 seats.

Whatever it ends up being, just enjoy it :driving:

Agreed Andy, I have a 1 series and no one can stay in the rear for long journeys.

There is a 6 series not far from me in white and looks very nice, still think the 4 series is a better bet all round - 430D is a tremendous bit of kit all round pace / space (for a vert) and economy to boot

I like the look of the 6 series, in a weird way, but I think it seems to offer a mix of limited performance, high fuel consumption and £500+ road tax... maybe a mapped 635D would be a better compromise.

I like the look of the 420 convertible, but it’s a fair bit of wedge for a weekend family car.

I did feel a genuine ‘what have I done’ as the new owners took the car, but they were a lovely couple so I think it’s gone to a good home.

When you put it like that just ignore my suggestion

I know this is going off brand but the best 4 seater convertible I had was a SAAB 9-3 V6.

You could cope with the running costs when weighed up against the purchase price. I had two and never really had any bother with either

420D is pricey but still a nice motor offering everything you need.

I would have been thinking the same as it was driven off as well - you will have another one in years to come
