E89 Market watch

So is a 35is worth hanging onto? .... I’ve gone and made an impulse order on a new car!!! :o So the Zeds daily job gets taken over, meaning I should sell it. But I do like (most of) it and with them being quite rare I’d kick myself in the future if I let it go in haste.
For me It has one weakness chassis and lack of engagement. As a hot hatch fan I’m use to agile and fun on short sprints. The Zed is a GT car for longer cruises, certainly in the last 12 months haven’t been able to do that. Have until June to decide....

Drive one with coilovers (Rec KW V3), non-RFT and maybe a stage 1 and then if you still wish, sell it. Off the shelf, 35iS could do with a bit of tlc. Then, it becomes a very different car! Keep it.

I have fresh OEM adaptive dampers and Eibach springs, which helped no end. Also run 19’s and non RFT. Not felt the need to map it. Also has DBA front discs and EBC pads, braided hoses. Our bumpy B roads are the issue.

The prices for good low milage 35Is are holding really well. I think there is one on auto trader for £24k or best part of and its January. I think bigger engine Z cars in that price range will do OK in the next few years as engine sizes collapse as 5 turbos are added instead of CC and electric filters in. The 35is is the last of a breed, a combination of power and technology. Tech is now taking over, Ipads as a dash instead of original clocks, no gear sticks, for us petrol heads it all changing fast at that price they will fair ok. That said technology based cars will ultimately in time take over.

I don't know how much you can trust Howmanyleft.com but 35iSes are even less than Z4Ms (Disclaimer here). I got my ‘15 Reg last July at 10k miles and now at 13.5k I could sell it for ££s more. Not selling though, before you ask!

Waiting on Kw V3s and Mich PSS atm.

Mines done 78K, 2010, so may well have bottomed ? Fully loaded though. Hopefully I’ll hang onto it for a while longer see how much I miss it if I lay it up for a while. I still hopefully have spring and start of summer to enjoy it before making a final decision. Have a Toyota GRY coming in June.

Pity, for me at least, no sat nav and heated seats..seems to be common to many of the 35 models...I guess they were so expensive people couldn’t afford the ‘optional extras’

Appears to be in very good condition...I see someone painted the stock calipers m style....

very nice to look at, but I suspect its a deal breaker for most with no idrive/heated seats....on that sort of car you want all the toys, but not many yellow perils out there..

No heated seats would be a blow.. I drive.. Is it really essential on a weekend toy? Was never even a consideration and probably bottom of the list of options for me, a lot of other options I would prefer over it

The plus side that we see with the idrive isnt the satnav but the music storage. I think this is a really good thing to have and only realised we wanted it as our X6 has it.

The ability to fairly easily and cheaply add Android Auto or Apple Car Play by sticking an MMI box in is also another bonus of iDrive.

Great looking car - similar issue for me as my current black car unfortunately, having owned a yellow Seat Leon a few years ago; absolute nightmare to keep clean.

Heated seats would be a deal breaker too - I use them all the time through winter and autumn.

Heated seats are an easy aftermarket add on
Yes, but IMHO most people who are likely to purchase wont want aftermarket add ons. The more standard a car, with more options, the more desirable it is. The bright colours/lack of availability of these cars might mean this will overcome that issue though.

Top of the range model without the whistles and bells, thats why its at that price. Yes you can add heated seats and add idrive if you have the abilities/skill/knowledge of a very small group of members on this forum but otherwise its a big hassle. If you want one of these you're going to be looking for one with all or near all the extras you can find.

When I ordered mine at the end of the E89 production run i went at the tick box like a shark in a feeding frenzy!

I think this is the car I looked at a while back. But was out of my budget at the time @£18,500ish

Subsequently I think, Peter, PBondar, said he’s looked at it too.

If it is I think the lack of toys is what put him off.

Again if it is the same car I’m sure it has a quaife lsd on it but no mention in the advert.

In a car like that I would also be put off with no iDrive but particularly no heated seats. I was out in mine yesterday for an essential journey and roof down heated seats on :driving:
