E89 Market watch

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60082564 says that according to ONS, used cars were up 28% year on year in 2021. Staggering number IMHO.
That will translate into higher margins for dealers and as has been said already far less willingness to haggle on price. Not much pressure on available working capital for instance when the car a dealer sells can't instantly be ploughed back into another.

Nothing to do with me but seems a good starting point for someone wanting to get into a 35i. At that mileage it’s got to have had some of the known issues dealt with FSH, lots of toys and a nice clean looking car, what’s not too like :D

Lot of car for the money..just wonder about the 'too good to be true' issue? :tumbleweed:

IMHO on 35i and 35is age is relatively irrelevant as nothing really happened to them in their model lives and mileage wise we know what the issues are..these days I'd be less hung up on age and mileage and buy on goodies, condition and ideally service history

Now reduced to £9,500 or best offer. Perhaps just a case of someone needing to turn the car into cash pretty quickly. Also it's a LONG distance for most of the population of the UK to travel for a car.

Even for a nearly 100k car that doesn't look like a bad price to me depending on condition

Link added for those who maybe interested in buying the best model in the best colour   :fuelfire:

The Montrose 35i is back up at 8k starting bid.

I'm curious to see what sort of mileage these N54 Z4s get to. There don't seem to be many N54 3 series with high mileage around, but I suspect a lot of Z4s might be looked after better.

If you assume that you've had to replace turbos and lots of gaskets by 100k, what's to stop it getting to 200k?

Once you get past the pain of the things that will fail because they weren't the best design or materials then the core engine seems to be as good as, or better than any other BMW straight 6. Forged crank and rods, lots of cumulative knowledge transferred from the N52.

Over the pond there are lots of folks seriously abusing N54 with 100k-200k mileages.

Given the inability of people to stretch them for more than a few seconds they are effectively over engineered in the hands off almost all folks.

So providing you keep changing the oils, the belts and the rogue plastics then once you are through the known issues they probably would go on forever.

That’s what I was thinking when I initially mentioned it. At that mileage it’s got to have most/all of the known issues addressed, particularly with FSH??

You would expect that some of the 'issues' for sure would have been addressed..but..on the other hand..it probably means that some of the issues that haven't been addressed could then fail...but at that price a war chest is the best answer be that real or the ability to call on cash when needed..
