The plastic does warp and leak unfortunately, its the same with the DCT gearbox sumps. I had to change a valave cover on my previous car (23i). We removed it when the gasket went and when it was cleaned and placed on a flat surface it rocked around due to a twist in it.Rich777 said:High Mark thanks for that. I think you're right. A general mechanic told me if the cover is warped you need to replace it. We're not talking cylinder heads here, so can't see how plast can be warped and not pulled back down again when you re torque up the bolts. Yes totally agree with you the crack case ventilation built in can be cleaned.![]()
