E86 SPORT BUTTON

I’ve got an E86 Coupe 3.0si Auto and I find that pressing the
Sport button makes a massive difference. The car really comes alive and fly’s. I find I have to keep the revs up to avoid jerky gear changes. If I want to overtake quickly I always hit the sport button.

That's excellent, I'll try the above, went out today and couldn't tell the difference with it on or off so I guess I need 2 try the above.

Ditto.

Apart from weighting up the steering a tiny tiny (pretty imperceptible) bit, the only other thing it does on a manual is change how much you need to flex your ankle for the same effect.
It's as simple as giving you 50% throttle by only pressing the throttle pedal quarter of the way down rather than halfway down (example figures).
All I see that as is removing finer control from the driver.

Any other differences - quicker gear changes, more acceleration etc are all in the mind.

It weights up the steering on mine a lot (I don't like it!) Mines an auto so by pushing the stick to the left i get the sportier gear changes without the heavier steering and overly sensitive throttle.

I tried using it once or twice on my 3.0Sis and it didn't seem to make any difference, so I gave up using it.
Ditto......doesn't seem to do anything noticeable :tumbleweed: on my manual si sport
