Not entirely true. I fitted full dual system with OEM ///M back ones. Just had to remove the charcoal filter. Slim the battery down and fit a race battery instead. Bit more work but the most elegant and pure solution.
Full thread on it on the forum.
Each to their own of course but other than visual appearance it would seem quite a bit of work to add an extra box/ pipe work to the car , with the added weight & poss exhaust restriction . M box's do look rather bulky ( helped if painted black though) to me . IMHO credit to you for achieving this on a non M car though .
Yes it was a lot more work, but the effect is much better. Not only is it a proper system rather than a 'T' pipe, but performance improved marginally as it was less restrictive than the existing box. Sound is much better and extra weight was compensated for by swapping out a heavy battery for a much smaller race version and removing the charcoal filter and associated crap.
Bottom of my boxes are painted black and since I also added an OEM CF diffuser then hardly visible.
I certainly would not recommend this route to someone who just wants the effect of quad pipes and doesn't have access to lots of equipment, but was more pointing out it is possible.
