Hi guys, my 3ltr won’t start despite my changing the starter motor. I’ve also had two electricians look at it, no codes whatsoever and they couldn’t find any issues.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What prompted you to change the starter? Any other issues prior to that?

Assuming it’s been put back together properly and the battery is properly attached I’d probably look next at the ignition barrel

Engine doesn’t turn over at all, lights come on but no power.
I changed the starter motor because that’s what originally came to mind. In hindsight I shouldn’t have bothered but hey ho.
Thanks for the ignition barrel suggestion, I initially thought maybe it could be the immobiliser!

To clarify, most people think of the ignition barrel as the bit you put the key in.
What you actually need to be looking at is on the other side, kind of where the end of the key ends up. The black switch unit there can be removed and replaced fairly easily.

Really? That sounds straight forward however do you think it’s something a disabled pensioner can do or do I need a professional?

Take the lower steering wheel cowling off and you'll see it on the left side, with a plug connected to it.
This view is from underneath.
Under the red paint there are two small screws. Clear the paint away and undo the screws. Fairly easy.

Thanks so much, that seems rather straightforward. I’m assuming I’ll have to get a replacement unit from the main dealership or can it be gotten from eurocarparts?

Well the one in the photo would probably do you.
PM me your address and we can get it on it's way.

Check the earth strap. They corrode and then you have no ground to the starter.
Back of the engine bay on the right as you look from the front.

Problem solved so thanks everyone who commented, it was the ignition switch as suggested. Thanks to enuff_zed for sending me one. True gentleman 👍
