If the micro switch is working correctly, then with the parcel shelf is in the up position , pressing the down button for the roof will make the red light flash on the switch, and with the parcel shelf in the down position pressing the down button will activate the roof unlatch and window drop ( assuming both those operations are working correctly )
The bypass cable ( Bowden cable ) is purely a mechanical operation of a value that allows free flow of hydraulic fluid through the pump , no electrical operation is affected .
The electrical motor that drives the hydraulic pump is a strong unit, and normally with the correct TLC they can be revived without any issue . I have only every had to replace one unit as it was completely knackered . Personally in that case I bought a recondition unit off of eBay and it's still working fine . Normally there is no need to replace the pump .
