E85/E86 Steering Problems (Solved)

Excellent description and photo's. A really helpful post.
The steering on my 2008 E86 feels like you're having to constantly adjust the steering to keep it in a straight line. I think after reading your post it may be a little tight. Well worth having ago at this.
Thank you

So as it was a nice sunny day down here in Devonshire I decided to have another go at sorting my sticky steering, 3rd time. This is one occasion when I am glad to be a thin, fairly flexible short house with small hands. :) Took off the cover but could not find the adjuster nut at the back, it was there 2 years ago.:unsure:Then realised that there is another cover lower down and hey presto there it was tucked around the back.:) Moved the ring another 3mm and took it up the road, felt much easier and smoother, so moved it another 2mm and went out with the wife to Dawlish Warren for a picnic. Car felt much easier to keep in place on the road without so much darting and when I braked it didn't squirrel around any more. So, as I was in the mood, I had another go and moved it another 2mm, even better now. The steering feels much safer and easier and not stiff anymore, that is now 22mm from the mark made by the owner that did this the first time. It still tramlines a little but that is because of our awful roads around here but I will leave it at that for now and have the alignment done after Christmas. A big cheer and thank you to Joycey for starting this thread and all those that have added their knowledge to it since. Amazing (y)

Also I've noticed the steering doesn't make a groaning noise anymore when reversing into our driveway, I need to have it almost on full lock. (y)
