They certainly look more padded than Z4 Sport seats, although possibly not quite as shaped if that makes sense?
The tilt release is a push-on plastic item AFAIK, so if you pull it off carefully OP there will still be a short metal lever sticking out but it won't interfere as much and hopefully you could find something to cover it with! Or maybe just cut down the plastic cover?
Anyway a quick photo of a Sport seat for comparison:-

I bet there's a small amount as they are slightly thicker...but marginal. Here's a picture whilst the original passenger seat was still inChris_D said:Looking out for some in beige. Got a long wait i think!
Is there anything taken away in terms of Forward/backward space? My non sport seats are right back against the back wall to accomodate my lanky legs. If i lost any length it would be a problem i think..

Cheers Marlon they took maybe 30 mins to swap over.Marlon said:Great buy - done in an afternoon too, they look very comfy![]()
Did you get some?IRD said:Pleased you found some and quickly too. A real bargain.
No not at all...they drop miles too low for me. I've adjusted my seat up quite highMACK said:Do you feel like you are sat higher up in their lowest position? They look higher in your photo but I'm not sure how you had them adjusted.
Glad you like them.
All you need to do is cut the lever down and sand it smooth. You could leave it off all together but it's handy access for the storage behind the seats.Leesfarm07 said:Picked up the M3 seats this morning from Jamie_z4 and fitted them this afternoon......wow they are something else. All electric memory heated with air pumped side bolsters and lumber supports. They fit absolutely no probs and are plug and play with the old wiring. Compromises obviously with no shoulder seat belt guide and the seat tilt leaver just catches when the seat is right back but these are minor issues. Will have to put my thinking cap on. Cheers Jamie![]()

The sports seats look lightweight as well...I see they use a different style of shoulder seat belt guide...I need to fabrucate something as it a bit high on the body without
Thats perfect....that's just what I'm after thank you for finding thatdavros said:wow, this list looks a nice upgrade on the standard SE seats especially with the adjustable bolster and lumbar supports. Well done![]()
I think the M3 seats also have a tilt release on the inner side of the seat, which is a lot shorter. Could you replace the outer long tilt release with one of these shorter ones?
BMW also do a seat belt guide for the E46 seats, which utilises the headrest mounts. Would this be an option? Here's one I found on eBay (I hope the link works) https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=e46+seat+belt+guide&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#imgrc=2uQsoxJtIJPFuM:
Jamie sent me a pic of where a friend had put it which fits well. The metal bracket attached to the end of the belt bolts between the floor and the rear hole on the runner clamping it securely to the floor. Ideally be nice to fabricate a bracket that clamped under the same hole but came up the side of the runner and then the seat belt could be bolted to that.Ducklakeview said:How did you mount the buckle in the end David? Di the runner come apart like I thought?
