Driving without a spare wheel

I have two cans of Holts Tyreweld and a compressor.

Also have RAC cover, carry the card and have their app on the phone.

Will be checking the use by date on the Tyreweld tonight.

I always carry a BMW mobility kit which contains both a powerful compressor and tank of goo to use. I always doubt the small aerosols will both seal and inflate a large tyre and equally if all I have is a nail in the tyre I can use the compressor alone without gooing the tyre up.

I also have a emergency spare at home such that if the need arises for a new tyre I have time to pick one up on the internet at a decent price, not the first garage I have to pull into at whatever make, model and price available.

Be careful buying second hand from breakers the goo has a limited lifespan (the one in the second link appears to be a best before Nov 2004!). I believe you can get refills though. I picked up a brand new in date kit identical to the BMW ones for a lot less money just because the case is branded Iveco rather than BMW. It's more than up to the job as it's designed for LGVs.

Agree - you need non date expired refils, which you can get. The links were just examples of the products.

in the M there is i kit which i assume is factory fit, i also assume this must be non date expirey stuff?

Ok now confused. I have the original factory fit kit. Has anyone changed theirs? Or used one that is several years old?
 
One thing to add is make sure your mobility stuff is in date as the goo does expire and goes hard... i had some of the cans of holtz tyreweld i got from Tesco years ago in my Z and they are useless now.

Guy at work i his A4 actually managed to repair a tyre which had sidewall damage!!!

He had no idea.. it was flat... he used this kit.. drove around for the rest of the year... got it replaced as it had worn away.. and the tyre shop showed him what the repair damage had sealed... quite impressive really!!
