Summer tires .... asking to die when the first snowflake lands
All season , some have M+S on them, marginal but generally useful , not necessarily good in cold cold temps.
Winter.tires... have a snowflake on the side, has a softer compound in colder temps, required on most highways in western Canada during winter. Yes , they have to be snow tires to get the winter designation , A good snow tire can save your life.
I use Blizzaks whenever possible , the best tire I’ve ever found for snow and ice.
all weather tires.... not worth trying here, might be ok in the UK.
