On week days thats the norm. Weekends is very much a different story. Thats why I asked when he would be traveling.![]()
On weekends the sides of the road are filled with bicycles and cars are parked all over the place. Not to mention the lookie lou's in front of me.![]()

Now just deciding - convertible or 4x4. Obviously prefer a convertible, but not sure our cases would fit in the boot and we want to get out and leave the car for a bit.

Yep thats what we were thinking. Just the two of us.IMZ4N said:Weather should be warm while you are here. San Francisco will be cooler and maybe wet. I feel that there will be a good amount of fog in the mornings as well. Just two of you coming? You could think about a 5 seater convertible and use the back seats for luggage if needed. I would not advise leaving the top down if you are not within running distance from the car though with luggage in the seats. I like to think outside the box, can you tell.![]()
Crikey - didn't realise that - thanks for the tip.IMZ4N said:Highway 1 frome San Francisco to Morro Bay is 2 lane ( one in each direction ) for the most part. You will get a passing lane every so often ( meaning 3 lanes , 2 in one direction and one in the other ). Have you thought of things to do or see while on the trip down? Keep in mind that from Monterey to 30 miles south of Big Sur, we have had fires in the forest from highway 1 towards the east. I can not say how bad it looks, as we have not been there since the fires. The road is open and all is well that way. Before to travel from San Francisco, I would like to make a sugestion. Call for Highway conditions by calling toll free, from any phone 1-800-427-7623, it is an automated directory of road conditions in California. When you call you will be asked to enter the highway you wish to check, you would enter 1. After fires we sometimes have landslides which block the roads. By calling the number above, you will know if there are any closures. If you have thoughts or questions, please ask. I will do my best to help, as will others as well.![]()
Weekdays it is then, I suppose even at the weekend it's not the kind of road to race down anyway, but take your time and enjoy the view.IMZ4N said:Wondermike said:IMZ4N, love the vids. It seems pretty quiet with traffic, is that normal for that route?

Lisa and I were fortunate enough to spend nearly a month bumming around in Arizona a few years back. We have not been abroad yet, but my god there are so many beautiful places in this country!20ducks said:Mine is the Grand Canyon/Sedona.
