Drive Door Wont Open from Inside or Outside

Having an issue with my drivers door not opening from the inside or the outside. I have a GM5 module that’s playing up but the issue only started once I changed the Bowden cable on the door handle carrier.

I have fixed the issue 3 times, only for it to reoccur within a few days. Thought I’d ask for some opinions before going through the hassle of removing the door card while the door is closed.

When the door card is removed everything looks to be in order mechanically. If I push down on the switch the Bowden cable is clipped on to within the door, whilst the Bowden cable is connected, the door will not open. When I unclip the cable from its nest and push the switch manually, the door opens which made me think perhaps I didn’t install it correctly. Do I need to pull the door handle while installing to keep the Bowden cable taut?

Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue where the teeth on the mechanism that engage from the handle had broken or worn down

Have a look at the condition of them they are on the door handle

I will take a look on Sunday when I attempt to fix it, the passenger door had the issue you’re describing and the handle didn’t work at all when that part broke.

Maybe the lock actuator? I have noticed the door doesn’t close flush to the frame, there’s an ever so slight gap which maybe is obstructing it from unlocking? Have found a remedy for that on the forum which I’m going to try and hope for the best.

Was also wondering if a faulty GM5 module would cause one door permanently not to unlock? Thing is the GM5 issues are intermittent so I imagine if that were that the issue, it would only occur sometimes.

I really don’t know.. :headbang:

Had that issue recently with a mates zed.
Got the door card off but of course you still can’t get at the lock bolts.
In a fit of temper I placed a narrow wooden handle on the part of the lock I could see, keeping clear of the electrical plug, and whacked it with a hammer.
All started working normally again!!!!!
