Hello friends!

OK, Here is the issue, after I shut the power switch off to my Business CD/Radio, Intermittent of course, I hear the CD Player with CD left in player, The in dash CD unit makes a repeating clicking noise-----------lasts around 3 seconds and then powers off since that is my request. Again, it is intermittent.

My guess, The CD player unit is bad or maybe a gear :headbang:
But, has anybody heard the noise I am talking about? I do know, the CD player does make it's normal adjustment noise during power off mode, but the clicking---- when it does happen sounds it has having some issue?

I did purchase a extended warranty on my car with a 75.00 deductible, so I can have it replaced, just curious if anybody knows more on this player?
Do we know who makes the unit, I have an 03 with the Carver premium sound package, curious who makes the head unit, Harmon Kardon?

Any help with be most appreciated

Thanks!!!

Bob

Head unit is Alpine, and to be honest I have never used a CD in the radio yet as I have an iPod ...

Thanks for the name of the supplier of the head unit! The ipod Aux is on my list to do-'s next!! Then I will say goodbye to the CD.
In the meantime, when I do play CD's, nothing skips, plays and sounds awesome, so everything works great except the shut down noise on occasion, I am going to try another CD! Just curious if anyone else hears this sound!

All the best!

Bob

I have heard a similar sound on mine - very intermittent but it would happen even with no CD in the player as well. Dealer couldnt find anything wrong with it but did hear it once - and surprisingly agreed to replace it, this on a 3 3/4 year old car and about a week before my Approved used warranty run out :)

I think it's normal. I notice it most whenever my car is totally off, and I go into my car to get something. The CD player is making sounds like it's loading up a CD or something even though everything's totally off and the key is not even in the ignition.

That exactly what mine was doing... Never happens with the replacement unit.

Thanks---Nice to know we have similar problems, helps to justify when I go for service.

I still have a 4 year or 100K warranty that I purchased when I bought the car used, good thing, Next time I go to dealer, I will tell them about intermittent noise and firm up that I want it replaced!!

So I don't have issues--I will have a little conversation with the service manager, heck the warranty I have, pays the dealer via Mastercard over the phone, so no liability to the dealer, except more profit!

FYI, I paid 2100.00 for the Warranty, I know its allot, but we all know if you have a serious problem, It could cost you a fortune!!!!!!

I did not know how much extended warranty's should go for, So I guess I got a good deal :D

Really? Wow. I wonder what causes it. I guess I never brought it in because it doesn't really bother me or affect my audio system at all. I'm very weary of bringing the car to the dealership 'cause it gives them a chance to screw something else up!

I figured I'd get them to look at it before the warranty ran out - so they would have to pay for it. TBH thought Id have more of a fight on my hands for a replacement than I did. The tech guys said 'see how it goes' but service just said 'We'll put a new one in' :D Especially as they'd just had to replace the clutch :o
