Do you use your Zed through the winter?

---- Wonder if there would be a market for under car steam/wash available through the winter - simply drive over and whoosh  - I'd use one

I think there are pressure washer attachments available

Yes it needs to tip it down Paul. I'm sure it was PVR who had an under car Karcher pressure wash, you just push it under like a trolley jack, hose it and put it away, looked a great bit of kit, that would keep the underneath salt free.

Yep, use it on all the cars. Shampoo to wash it, followed by liquid wax to protect it.

Sure do :driving:

Do you just leave it outside flimper? I do as well but have a light half cover (to avoid damage to the paint and keep the water out of the motor housing) - it's fitted every day.

No, my car goes away at the end of November - I bought the car as a summer toy knowing i would run it this way.
My wife's car is 4wd but as yet without winter rubber - My Disco is the tool for the job and has winter rubber and as we love at the bottom of a good hill its the Disco that will be getting more use.

As a personal choice , if its winter, it gets winter rubber - Winter rubber is said to be best under 7C
Ive used the Disco with std Pirelli rubber and Vredestein winters and it really is chalk and cheese.

Having a car for every condition is the way to go ronk

As much as I do through the summer, maybe a little less. I must admit I do like keeping it in the garage especially in the winter.

I'd have mine in the garage if it wasn't full of everything else . . . .if nothing else it might avoid settled snow that needs shifting . . .

Yep, mine gets used in winter, it's my only choice if I have to drive as Mrs B uses her car every day... Though it didn't snow last year so I haven't tested the 'new' Z in snow yet. Actually, it's probably never been tested in snow

I commute by train a lot more now, so it's kind of a part-time weekend car unless I'm going somewhere outside London. 47k now - in about 1k miles I'll have driven it more than PVR.

I'm always interested to see how your ///M experience is going - high mileage (like your high post count) now affecting a low mileage well cherished ///M . . . .

His is a coupe, so he just gets the rusty boot but no roof motor issue …

Saw it was a coupe - concerns if left outside whether R or C then . . . .maybe Coupe owners should use a half cover to protect from rust on their boot :o

Drive mine through the winter. But only when the suns out and there's no salt on the roads. :driving:

It certainly is but you can't even start to imagine the nagging to get rid of my Landrover I'm getting!
I'm praying for snow (sorry) this winter to make her realise that although it's nine years old now and only 23mpg on derv, it's still the best winter car we've got.

Her 335xd is still on std run fiats the car emptied my piggy bank in July and a set of winters is a lot more than the £525 tax for the Landrover !

Having said all that, if I smoked it would be £10 a day. I don't so I can keep my Landrover - it's only done 40k

Mine is a weekend all year round car, I couldn't imagine not driving it for 6 months of the year. Nice to see the roof down on yours Paul. We will be doing our best to have many roof down winter blasts although will miss the heated seats we had last winter in the 2.0 Zed :(

Even though I have absolutely no use for one I would really like a Land Rover  - the utilitarian nature appeals - maybe a very cheap Series lll. Probably only use it to go to Tescos just around the corner

We had the opposite - no heat in our first 2.0 litre and now heat in the 3.0. Your going to have to turn that heater up.

Mine is used everyday as it's my DD. Same as the E85 before it during the 4 years of ownership. Sits on my drive uncovered and I don't have Winter tyres. Not had any really bad winters in London for a while and I think I only left the E85 at home and commuted by Public Transport once.

Yep, and get a car blanket for the missus :driving:

Paul,

I couldn't use an old Land Rover - they are torture !
I sometimes used one at work and they were really hard work - the look of a Landrover is 100% iconic but mein Gott hard work, cold , lousy turning circle, heavy , draughty , leaking, smelly, bumpy. - do I need to go on?

I use mine as much as possible.

I don't do winter tyres, if it gets really cold I use the wife's Audi Quatro TT, although I do recall a few winters ago driving the zed in -8C temperature without any problems.

That was mine last winter. Used all the time. Just takes a little while to defrost

Yep - I remember a few mornings like that - isn't it amazing how the Zed can cope in the extremes from such a low temp to operating temp - staggering really. :o

Yea does surprise me how quick it warms up. I put it down to the small cabin. I don't have a long journey to work so whether I will put winter tyres on this year will depend on how bad a winter we have

Pretty much the same here. I have been tempted to sorn it during the winter months, but you do get some great days during the winter months. So put me down for a fair weathered winter user. Hang on, thats the same during summer as well. :driving:
