Do you sell the OEM bits when you upgrade?

Only the stuff i dont think i will put back on the car. Grills, lights and stereo i would keep

Wheels is another thing i would sell.

I've kept everything so far, though none of it is really bulky and things like the badges and the whip antenna were not in fantastic shape to begin. Most of my mods are additions rather than replacements tbh so not many OEM parts sitting around. Still got the original springs if a new owner wants them to put back on, and if I changed my wheels I'd find someplace to keep the 108s. If I changed the skirts they'd be a problem to store though.

What do you mean if you buy some wheels :poke:

Just being coy - can't spend it till I've earned it

That's alright then :)

Done a bit of that myself - people on here have helped me out readily enough in times of need, it's only right to do the same if you can

I've sold everything ... My car is a keeper and it would cost a fortune to return it back to stock . Not to mention the space needed to store everything, I've made a nice return on selling the stock ///m bits

Small items I keep. Steering wheel, amber sidelights, aerial, etc. Larger parts have gone as if I ever needed them I'd pick up replacements and it seems pointless to sit on hundreds on £££'s for years.

Other items if I ever sold the car I would part ex them to other people, such as the red interior, AE clear lights, etc.

Don't keep for spares, sell em to me.I need loads of stuff. We should have a Z4 boot sale

Depends on what they are and the general consensus taste towards them.

When I sold my Scirocco I took off the lights because they were worth a bit, other bits as they wernt everyones taste.

When I sell the E86 I will leave on the grilles and stubby but anything more substantial like wheels again depends on taste..

So the overall consensus is, find somewhere to stash the rims.

Yeah. It's a good question though. I keep all my smaller OEM bits (even the horrible gear knob) just so I have the option to put them back on if I sell. I'd probably draw the line at a hard top or rims, but that's just due to lack of storage in my flat.

I was wondering recently whether I'd have to remove the optional OEM extras I've added (cruise, MSFW etc) when I sell the car. Would you trust a forum member to fit something that should really be installed by a BMW garage, or at least a decent indie? I think I would, in general, especially when people follow community how-tos and take lots of pictures as they go. I'd try and leave these fitted to the car, since they seem to add more to the s/h value than the cost of the parts.

That reminds me, I've got some OEM ginger rear lights if anyone needs for a project

And i have some ginger hockey sticks if some complete and utter nut job wants to cut open their face lift lights and change to pre-facelift gingers so with Adamski rear gingers its a almost complete ginger upgrade
how much for the ginger hockey sticks? Guy I work with wants em for a project of some sorts! :)

I try to get rid of the stuff. I don't like storing the extra bits and it looks like I'll be hanging on to this car for awhile.
