I love my E86 regardless of the weather as it looks so good all year round - well now I've had the A/C fixed!

But the last couple of days I've had to use my E90, which has a sunroof so I've had that open for some fresh air motoring. 8)

Strange how a sunroof was a big deal in the 80s/90s - before A/C became what everyone wanted! But it's nice to have both.

I have an E85 roadster. I suppose that if I had a coupe I might feel a bit envious of the roadster folks on nice days. But then, the coupe is drop dead gorgeous so I think that would balance it out for me.

:o :o :o Shusssss or it's traitors gate for you. :P

All this talk of Coo Pee to E89 explains a lot as I've never understood the E89 attraction. Hatchback to pretendy roadster with questionable looks?!

There's many a trailer that was right.. Still hung em high.

No I don’t miss any of my six convertible cars as I came to the conclusion that on a hot summers day I would rather sit inside an enclosed space with the air con on and not breathing in everyone’s else’s exhaust fumes. I will never buy another one. The coupe just looks so much nicer in my opinion same as the Porsche equivalents.

hmm i think i will put the roof down in a minute.. roofs indeed... :poke: i do keep looking at e89's but with the roof down can you pack more than a toothbrush back there ? never mind bugger off abroad in it touring :?

Says the man with the RV - I was half expecting you to post a new ‘mod’ of your Z, roof down, in a specially designed cage underneath your mobile EU hotel

Rockin the E89 and loving the options it offers. Plus it just looks so much better with the top up than a ragtop. As my friend said of the convertible once; Ragtop ? What do they think this is, a JEEP !?
Admittedly the coupe looks cool but, the E89 is the coolest :P

I thought about it... Well.. Dragging it behind, :D

Don’t regret it but I do miss it. Especially stealing the odd winter drive under a clear sky with the heaters blasting. I’ll be back in the convertible game one day, I’m sure.

Has anyone owned a 85/86 coupe and a convertible for a decent amount of time? If so is the coupe much more of a "drivers car" compared to vert? Be interested to hear how they compare.

When I bought my coupe I had a look around a convertible and the most noticeable comparison I saw (minus the roof) was the bootspace is really usable in the coupe.

It was developed as a roadster and the Hatchback design was already there before the Roadster was unveiled.

It could have went either way though as the roadster sales could have been too low to justify the spend on making the handyman's van.

The only real differences in the two cars, apart from the Roadster looking much better is...

Roadster - roof motor may drown
Two Seater Van - birdbath on the bootlid probably leading to rust.

Apart from that it's the boot size as everything else will wear out, break or require some attention at some point!

Certainly have noticed the bird bath in the last week but I just dry it down before it comes in.

I wonder if they had sold more coupe's then perhaps they would have developed both a coupe and a soft-top for the e89's.
