Dissappointed in BMW

you were lied to - and they need to address that - if the service manager doesnt sort it then you may need to ask for the dealer principle - given the delays and the fact you've been carless I would REALLY push for goodwill or limited labour costs...

why not tell the main dealer to stick it, and find a good specialist?

Because the main dealer would have had to program the LCM regardless of where I had it fitted... Which would have cost me more.

I've also been told they were out of courtesy cars, and oh yeah here's a $750 bill and we still need your car. I got respectfully loud on the sales floor reminding him it was bull $h!t. Warranty or not, if they expect us to pay x2 the labor costs we should get a car! I told one service guy "I want a car, I'll go buy the parts at another dealership(they were overcharging me $150 easy), and it better be a BMW". I left in a brand new X3. Since I found getbmwparts.com I don't even buy parts from them anymore!

Thanks mate! I called customer services and they told me I AM entitled to a courtesy car! They also gave me the service manager's name at Derby BMW Stratstone. After a brief conversation with him he told me he will call back in 10 minutes. 4 hours later I got a call from the service representative who originally booked my car in and he said the new light control module has arrived! That's a little strange isn't it? On Friday it was going to be Wednesday at the earliest but as soon as I call in demanding a courtesy car the part magically arrives from Germany! I've been told I will be called tomorrow morning with an update.

I'm still furious, I've been almost 2 weeks without a car!!! I've been thinking of ways to reduce the bill to compensate for this. Perhaps get them to remove some of the labour charge.

My guess is that if they had a car on the lot with the same LCM, they removed it to install in your car to avoid the cost of the rental (if they had to rent you a courtesy car).

IMO it's not BMW you should be disapponted in, but the dealer. I would try a different dealer if I were you.

Good luck.

Cheers, Al

I ended up walking in the next morning demanding either a courtesy car or my repaired car and they told me after working on it early that morning they found the fault and it wasn't the LCM. A wire which supplied one of the side lights was worn and shorting. So, they insulated it and tried to charge me £170... I had none of it and managed to get the price down to £100. Still contemplating writing a letter of complaint to the dealership manager.:headbang:
