Hi all, I'm the long-time lurker with the Interlagos Z4MR. I joined the forum when looking for an M last year but it's taken until now to get posting.
I went to the nearest Shell in Kempston beforehand, but they were out of V-Power. I didn't bother putting anything else in as I thought I'd be ok. On leaving Kempston, I think it was tjlazer I ended up behind for a two-M convoy in.
Tiff's apperance was only brief but an unexpected bonus. I was glad the briefing didn't take the hour billed, with the sighting laps done early enough, so that the actual open pit lane session started just before 17:30. I was back in after a lap as the marshalls left the flashing reds on by mistake, but trying to go straight back out was the only time I had to queue.
I've done a trackday in the M already, but I'm still wary of switching the DSC off. It may have saved me from a spin outside the pits but next time it's definitely going off. The instructor was worthwhile, even though it started 20 minutes late, as I'd been getting the wrong angle on the chicane and not turning in early enough elsewhere.
I've a second set of M alloys with well-worn rears that I used on the day, which made things interesting when it started to rain. On my very last fast lap just before the end I did go for the fastest possible speed on the long straight and got the needle to 140. I should have paid more attention to the approaching curve, slightly faded brakes and damp track as the left hander didn't happen. To the bemusement of the 540i I'd just passed, I took the straighter lawnmowing route  But Bedford is very safe with wide run-off and the only place where you don't want to spin is just before the long straight.
The fuel range was down to 1 mile at the end, so in complete contrast I did the most gentle driving ever in the M to find the nearest open petrol station - really should have put some in earlier.
Good to refuel myself with playalistic, pawnsacrifice and mister_dj on the way back.
Just managed a few pictures.
Here's the Interlagos trio - the his and hers MCs and my roadster - plus if you look hard enough I think it's pawnsacrifice.
Just need to work out how I'm going to get this lot out
I highly recommend one of these subsidised novice half-days. It looks like they've now split the days up so that MINI and BMW get their own evenings for the rest of the year.
