Disconnected Battery: Now Windows Won't Auto-Up

An old thread but Dice, you are my saviour. I think chanting the elephant mantra to oneself whilst doing the reset helps! Strangely, another procedure worked for the passenger window - maybe something to do with the new regulator I'd installed on driver side. Either way. Thank you :D :D

I have a 2004 Z 3.0i.....You have to lower all the way down and then raise the window and hold for 1-2 seconds (hear the click from the door) four times in a row for the window one touch to reset. Once you've done it four times, lower it all the way and then try the one touch raise... should work now. The anti-jam (as in your head is between window and roof) is set now as well.....

Note.... everytime you disconnect the battery you will likely need to repeat this.

Thanks dice. worked for me after lots of attempts. Will see if it stays fixed now. It was after disconnecting the battery that it became a problem.

I was going through all the re-setting options for my passenger side glass auto-up (toll) only to find out a text from TIS stating:"Cars built prior to 04/2004 don't have auto-up (toll booth) option.". :headbang:

I had this problem on my 2006 2.0i. After changing the battery, on operating the roof to open both windows went down but after opening only the passengers window closed. On closing the roof the same thing happened. On searching the forum I found The Official Window Reset Procedure. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62834 I had to use this procedure a number of times until eventually the system worked properly. What I found was most importanwas to ensure that the one-touch operation of the window was erased both in up and down operation. This took a few goes to do it. Once the one-touch initialisation was erased, then go onto the next phase to program the window to operate properly. It does work but you have to persevere.
However I'm very pleased as it doesn't have to go to the garage for an expensive fix. Well done Forum, you've saved me a fortune in time and money.

I did what dice said in this thread. It still didn't work. I'm having numerous problems with my z4. Right indicator light flashing fast, error light on the dash, reversing sensors don't work (right one in particular) and the drivers window won't go up in auto but will when it goes down, all in the space of 4 days! I haven't even changed the battery.

Update:

I tried to do the reset thing for the window again and it works but now it's intermittent. Sometimes the window opens and closes. Sometimes it won't do anything! Argh!

I just had the same after I put a new battery on the car.

Worked first time. One touch up and down.

Ignition fully on (stage 2 full ignition)
Press and hold open, once at bottom, hold further 5 secs. Then press and hold up and wait another 5 secs at top.
Turn igintion off.

Worked first time for me.

@Dice... You're the MAN (or WOMAN)
After the Lotus seat swap it got confused.
I tried the proposed - go up & down- method and didn't work. Your method did.
T h a n k you!!!

after trying all the methods posted in this thread i have yet to solve this window auto-up issue. i’m hopelessly stuck with nowhere to turn  i have a ‘07 3.0si roadster and cannot get my driver side window to one touch auto-up for the life of me

I've had many problems with this after disconnecting the battery. This is the procedure that works for me, and seems to be a bit different to what others do. Note that step 5 is definitely necessary.

1. Close both doors and the soft top (or hardtop installed).
2. Ignition on.
3. Raise the driver's window.
4. Pull the driver's button up 4 times within 10 seconds.
5. Lower the driver's window to approximately 3 inches from the bottom (make sure it doesn't go all the way down).
6. Raise the driver's window and hold the switch in the up position for one additional second after the window reaches the top.
7. Lower the driver's window and hold the switch in the down position for one additional second after the window reaches the bottom.
8. Test the one touch down and up function.
9. Repeat the procedure for the passenger side.
