The emission light on my 07 2.0 Z4 has kept coming on and my local garage could find no problem. I took it this morning to BMW who informed the the catalytic converter needed replacing along with the oxygen sensors and wire harness and will cost an unbelievable £3,646 inc VAT. This is over half the value of the car and after protesting that its only done 58,000 miles they offered a £600 reduction to £3,000.
This is still a huge sum for a car worth only around £7,000.
It seems to me that BMW are replacing all the parts that could effect this warning light whereas it might only be be say the oxygen sensor that is faulty.
Is this wishful thinking or has anyone else had a similar experience.
Thank you for your help.
