So if the can line between 2 or 3 modules has broken, then the warning lights for the 2-3 modules wouldnt light up ? Even though they had a communication problem ?
Your line of thought isn't wrong, but the CAN bus isn't necessarily daisy chained like that (it will be a combination of star and daisy chain layouts). Plus, I would expect the EML and CEL lights to come directly from the ECU itself, so there's no connection there to be lost.
Power is definitely a common denominator here and is the first thing to check.
Battery is fine use a trickle feed with reconditioning aspect to it. No problem with power source all indications are its good.
Anyways fired it up yesterday rev counter hunted a wee bit on the drive way, no faults came up. Had the feeling if i booted from coldish would throw errors again so waited a wee bit. Nice and easy driving no faults.
Took it to the local By-pass to open her up and got pulled by an unmarked car (bmw 330d saloon black 60 plate). The dirty sods baited me.
They were sitting 4 car lengths back from a lorry which was doing 40 mph..... i approached and over took the bmw and nipped into the space between lorry and cops. I was a wee bit disgusted that the beemer was just sitting there with a clear road ahead and not over taking the lorry. Apparently i overtook the rozzers at 82 mph. Anyway s they didn't pull me then. They waited.
After about two more roundabouts the road opens up to a crawler lane then further up a dual carriage way. They sat behind me waiting. I hit the crawler lane and opened her right up hoping to blow any faults away.
They then preceded to follow at a peculiar set distance about 7 car lengths behind. I was starting to get a wee bit suspicious now, i spent a good few seconds trying to see if 2 passengers were in the front but i couldn't be sure cos of the black car and black interior. I hit another roundabout and doubled back along the bypass which was now dual carriage way (70 limit) and floored it. The bmw doubled back also now i was getting worried booted it till about 75 and pulled into inside lane to let them pass. They pulled out into over take lane and hit heir blues. f**k.
Thought i was going to get banned as i was sure i hit over a hundred briefly. Turns out they clocked me at 90 - 92mph , 3 points and a £100 fine, bye bye clean licence .
On the positive side stored car in garage last night started her up no faults and idle revs stable. took her for a drive kept the revs down till lights off no problems. Fault code reader shows no faults.
I'm going to leave the car outside tonight to see if the idle hunts in the morning.....im pretty sure now its down to damp or moisture.
Oh and i now drive like a granny
