Disable trunk (boot) release button?

Many times I am out and the top is down and I want to secure some valuables in the trunk. Well as we know, the little button inside the passenger compartment releases the trunk without need for a key.

Is there a way to disable the button temporarily. I would not want to cut wires.

Perhaps locking the doors with the top down might work but can the doors be opened by reaching inside the car and pulling the door handle?

Actually I never lock the car whether the top is up or down. My brother taught me years ago that every thief has a key to get into a convertible…its called a knife. So with that in mind I would like to disable that feature, even though it comes in handy at times. Is it fused and if so what else is on that circuit?

It is quite easy to unplug the switch. You just need to unscrew the bonnet release handle and pull off the trim covering the speaker. There you will find the connector for the switch.

I know you don't really want to cut wires but it'd be an easy job to splice a (hidden) toggle switch into one of the wires so that you can enable/disable the boot (trunk) release button whenever you wish.

Thanks for the suggestions. Even though I don't care to cut wires, I think the remote switch, in line with the stock switch, sounds best to me.
