Disa, vanos & water pump marathon - NOW WITH FAULT CODES

Well done that man ! Glad you got it sorted. There's nothing more soul destroying than carrying out a task on your car and then ending up with another problem to solve or fix afterwards :headbang:
Fortunately my Zed has been literally 'faultless' since rebuilding my Vanos back in May...touch wood. I agree with you about that little plastic cap on the exhaust side...what a little sod it is :-x
Like you say "Never give up !"

Cheers.
Had to go into work today, 28 miles of B-roads to Stowmarket. Ideal settling in run for the Z.
Well I have to say I can immediately feel a difference. Always felt the auto was a bit sluggish on initial pull away (if it were manual I'd liken it to a slipping clutch). That's gone. Clean acceleration from a standing start and once on the move the throttle seems much more responsive.
Having been told it improves over quite a few miles more, I'm keen to see how much better it gets.
Glad I went through all the pain now.

By the way, anyone got any ideas as to why a lumpy idle on an auto would seem to lessen when D or R is selected.
I can follow that this will load the engine, but no idea how that affects the idle like that?
Was wondering if there's some kind of electrickery that compensates for the extra load by adding a little more throttle and that is what smooths it out?
Any other guesses welcomed?
