Difference Between the z4 35i and 35is

Z4MAD said:
it would seem the 35i has a ratio of 3.08 with the 35is having a ration of 2.56

I assume 3.08 is the manual 6 speed and 2.56 the 7 speed DCT also available on the 35i

Dear Comrade Scubaregs,

I do not, however, resort to plagiarism as is the case with your post. And please, I do not at all mind you purloining my creations, indeed, I take it very much as a compliment.

have wholeheartedly engaged within the information that Ronk has so kindly and most generously provided. Indeed I have examined each detail to the minutest of degrees. t is truly so magnificently comprehensive such that there can be no question as to the veracity of the content; the aspect of promethean transmogrification puts asunder some assertions made within the catenated order of the Posts within this thread. I would particularly refer fellow comrades and most essentially the piloti's of the BMW Z4 35i and the BMW Z4 35is to the aspect of 'Transmissions' as set out within the wonderful Post that Ronk has created, which is not only biblical in its gargantuan proportions, but also in the veracity of its content. I have noted that the final drive ratio appears to be quite disparate on the 35i by way of comparison to the 35is,... it would seem the 35i has a ratio of 3.08 with the 35is having a ration of 2.56. I trust that I have interpreted these figures correctly; if so, it would seem that the 35is is higher geared than the 35i. This would indicate that the miles-per-hour per one thousand engine revolutions in the 35is would be significantly reduced by way of comparison to that of the 35i. Additionally, as the engine in the 35is would appear to be turning over at a much reduced rate of revolutions this would indicate that the 35is engine would have a far greater longevity than the 35i.
As Chippie said earlier , I don't know if you are taking the micturition (you spelled it wrong BTW), but the drive ratios are the same. The 35i has two, one for a manual and one for the DCT; the 35is only has the DCT. The DCT is 2.56 for both. BTW there is a typo in the literature, if you look at the 28i drive ratios, they have been transposed from the manual to the auto. I know feckin fascinating, huh?
I should have been a rozzer :D

 People quote on forums all the time, it's how it works, nothing special.

I assume, despite my answer, you still do not know how to post a link?

Dear Scubaregs,

Please forgive me, as you had most kindly advised me the procedure for posting a link and I had neglected to thank you, which is not at all satisfactory behaviour. This notwithstanding, I will admit, however, that operating this box-of-tricks is by no means second nature for me; in actual fact, I probably have something akin to a phobia as I fear making a monumental faux pas, and therefore tend to stay within the tight confines of the extremely modest degree of skill that I possess.

With kind regards,

MAD ....... still patiently waiting the arrival of an 35is in Melbourne Red with a white interior, or mid metallic blue with a white interior; but I am willing to compromise to some extent; but I am an extremely patient personage and am happy to wait until the right machine becomes available.

Patience is the key to find exactly what you want.

I think the Blue you mention is Deep Sea Blue, which does looks fantastic with the white (Ivory?) interior.

Dear Comrade Mr Tidy,

Yes, thank you, as I believe you have correctly identified the precise colour. I am thinking that with the autumn period closing in upon us followed by the perhaps grim prospect of winter, may cause one or two custodians to release their machines to another for its continued safekeeping. This apart, it does somewhat surprise me how frequently they become available,... I tend to check-in to Autotrader, Ebay and Piston Heads each day. So, I am happy to sit and wait which in fact is a very good thing for the human condition.

With kind regards,

MAD

As an aside to all the technical stuff which I don't profess to understand in the slightest, wonder how many 35is owners would swap to a 35i and vice versa if no additional cost was involved?

Just me? OK, whatever :D

I think your humour is under appreciated on this forum Pondrew, Mr Proletariat indeed :D

Actually I think Z4MAD should close his account and open a new one as Mr Proletariat. And I’m probably not the only one here who had to look up micturition, what a great word that is, must use tomorrow

and another thing, after reading many many pages, it dawned on me that this thing with the 35i versus the 35iS is just the same as those in the good old days with the Z4M and everyone else, but at least there, they could say well it’s a proper M car :poke:

I wonder if life will be easier with the G29

I whole-heartedly agree young Miss Sars (if indeed that is your real name). :D
Luckily I only spout this nonsense 'cos it makes me chuckle, so not really bothered TBH.

Of course you're not. We all did! Since MAD turned up I've spent half my working day Googling feckin' words. The man's a menace :D

Dear Comrades,

I have been ruminating upon the aspect of 'Lithium' and the ramifications thereof for machines such as the E89 (I needed to include E89 to make this post legal in the context of where it has been placed). However, what pray are your views and opinions on this lightest of all metals inter alia its usage in batteries, compared to petroleum fuled devices and does it follow that we shall become 'Battery-Heads' rather than 'Petrol-Heads'?

With kind regards,

MAD

Dear Comrade 2k35is,

Thank you for advising me of the machines that you have so kindly listed:

Regretfully, the Melbourne Red Machine is close to the near hinterlands of the other-side-of-the-Universe (Scotland).

The second example is promoted as low mileage; perhaps to some, sixty three thousand miles would be categorised as low; for myself, it is too high a mileage for me to countenance

The third example appears to be a very nice example, but when correctly researched, the downside is that it has had four owners and the service history, in my humble opinion, is dire.

I have danced this dance on many occasions over the years; however, it is so simple to allow emotion to rule one's decision thus that one ends up with a miserable dose of 'Buyers Remorse'. I believe that all time consumed in research and reconnaissence is seldom wasted. Essentially, I do my best endeavours to operate under the axioms of 'Fail to Prepare, Prepare to Fail' and, 'Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail'.

I shall continue to sit within the shadow of the wind........

With kind regards,

MAD

I wouldn't worry too much about the number of owners. Z4s seem to change hands quite often as I think they get bought with the heart and often the head realises a Z4 may not have been the right choice! My current Z4 has had 7 previous keepers.

But I don't know what the Service History looks like.

Still you seem patient so I'm sure the right car will turn up!

Dear Comrade Mr Tidy,

Yes, I do understand that the number of owners should not define a motor car, but when it is associated with a service history that is not up to muster, then for me, it does put a sufficiently large question mark for me not to proceed further.

Thank you and kind regards,

MAD
