hello Guys,

I hope somebody managed to install this before https://car-solutions.com/en/video-interface-with-hdmi-for-bmw-cic-with-active-parking-guidelines.php

they write that it may not work for z4 e89, but in the comments they say it works

I guess it should as the CIC specs are the same as for the e90, right?

thanks,

tinto

got a reply from the vendor: "This video interface may work with E89 but CAN wires should be connected separately because the connector is different. Unfortunately, we don't have pinout of E89 connector that goes to the monitor."

connecting shouldn't be a problem, but how to figure out if the video worked

so far this seems to be the cheapest solution out there putting Android on the screen

Canbus wires are pins 9 & 11....

And yes your thinking is correct, the wiring and units used in the e89 are the same as the e90 etc
The difference is the actual screen, but the connectivity is the same.

This may help you more though...

This is the connection diagram for the screen. It looks like you have all the correct connections, I'm not sure if the plug is the same though

Just checked, the plug is different, but as it's only 4 wires then this could be adapted with the right plug

I'm new to this kind of modding, where do I look to connect these 4 CAN wires mentioned above, which are not pinout by the vendor? thanks

If you look at the manual (in your first post), page 6 top right corner it gives you the positions of the wires in relation to the e90 plug;
Pin 1 = red/Yellow, power
Pin 3 = brown, ground
Pin 5 = light green/orange, can high
Pin 6 = light green, can low

Then if you go to post 6 above it takes you to the e89 pin out page and shows you on the left of the page;
Pin 1 = red/yellow, power
Pin 2 = brown/black, ground
Pin 3 = orange/green, can high
Pin 4 = green, can low

So from that you can determine which wires go where.
The problem will be that the input socket on the HDMI unit will be for the plug type of the e90 but you could get hold of a blank one for this and use it to replace your current e89 (4 pin) plug. And the plug from the HDMI unit output will be for the e90, but here you could use the e89 plug you're taking off from the stage above (if that makes sense) then it'll plug into your e89 pop-up screen socket.

I found a post https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=780402 where the part number is cited: 61136954526

realoem is telling that it is the same for e89 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...323i&mg=61&sg=10&diagId=61_2262&q=61136954526

am I looking at the right thing?

thanks
