Diagnostic Services - Members Register (INPA, Carsoft etc.)

Neil, you are going to have that laptop and diag cable glued to your hands with a bunch of needy Z4 owners come Sunday :)

Surprised/disappointed to find that I need to get my car coded to change the set-up (lights, wipers, auto-locks, etc. ) for my 2007 2.5si (had it 2 weeks, and love it). In my previous BMWs I could do this myself using the car's controls.

The few changes I'd like to make are:
- doors lock when I drive off
- 3 flashes on flick of indicator
- close windows from key fob (if this is possible)
- sensitivity of auto wipers and headlights

Maybe a couple of other changes.

Can anyone help me with the coding? I assume that a main dealer will rip me off for this! I live in Derbyshire, work in Macclesfield, but do travel around the UK a bit.

i CAN CODE IN SSS FOR YOU, here is the list i compiled.

Great stuff! There are two things on your excellent list that I'd like to have - autolock, 3 x indicators. Some I don't understand, and others I'm not sure whether they're currently set to 'on' or 'off'. Would be nice to be able to close roof with key, but I guess I'd need someone with NCSexpert for that.

if you PM me, maybe we can arrange a convenient date to do this?

just loaded SSS v32 on to laptop running window 7 (32 bit)

Found in retro fit section that you can deactivate driver or passenger seat belt warning, tried it but need to connect car to charger as you need over 13 volts :D will give it ago another day.

What are the codes for this please? Tried to find them in NCS but nothing obvious.
What do you need 13v+ for?

Thanks.

If you do this in Retro section of SSS you will need to have changes.iso installed to make SSS have 14v displayed in to right of screen otherwise it wont work.

NCSexpert code:

SBR_SENSOR_BEIFAHRER
or
SBR_BEIFAHRER

SSS/Progman Override the 13 volts issue install changes.iso

Can anyone check my car error codes and reset my airbag light please? I'm in Hampshire, between Southampton and Bournemouth.

Light came on after going over a bump!

My dad has a Sykes Picavant diagnostic tool, but not sure if it will work and he's way at the moment.

is there anyone near whitby, north yorks that can turn off airbag light as its come on after it had a flat battery? :(

I've got INPA that should be able to resolve/clear such faults Bigcoose. It sounds weird that a flat battery would cause it. Certainly worth reading the code off first to see what it says.

Dan Yeates, that sounds like maybe a dodgy connection. I *think* codes might clear after a number of good startup/check sequences for some faults, although a silent code is retained for viewing later.

I'm still wondering whether to buy myself a GT1 from China then it all 'just works' and comes with a nice laptop too so that can just have all the BMW stuff on it only.

As per the coding stuff, does Carsoft do coding in a more logical way? Ie, not all German language obscure truncated codes like NCS (looks like a nightmare to use, obviously just something you have to have a lot of documentation sitting around for to make sure you do it right each time)

A shame no one has written a little plain English interface for all this stuff really, I imagine it wouldn't be too hard, hence me wondering if Carsoft does indeed do that?!

Cheers

Dave

my mate read the code and it was an undervoltage detected in one of the airbags.cant remember which one tho :x

Hmmm, not ideal.

I'm in Leeds so a fair trek for you but I have INPA and would happily take a look for you if you are ever over this way!

Dave

all sorted now ta mr whippy,i set up inpa and it showed undervoltage and communication error in sattelite b.im a happy bunny now, thanks very much for your offer. :D

Satellite B are behind the seat bases in the corner aren't they?

Did you need to replace anything, or just reset it?

Been reading generally, as I often do, about BMW diagnostics/programming/ecu tinkering. There is a new diagnostic kit out called ICOM A B C that does coding, programming and diagnostics. Anyone heard/tried it yet? You can get a good clone tool for about £400 ish... kinda tempted if it makes the coding side of things a bit easier... ie, tick boxes rather than finding obscure strings in German to re-set parameters hehe.

Hmmm

Hi dave

I reset the light and didnt need to replace anything so im a happy bunny at the mo.i doubt I will be indulging in any more software 4 the z as I im afraid I will be selling it this coming spring.

hello, this is my first post
im pulling my hair out at the moment trying to get rid of an airbag light which came on
after putting in a new window motor . i bought the inpa software and cable which i could not download,
so then bought a d900 which is not finding any dodgy codes.
so if some who`s close to Guildford and think they can help me i will be happy to make a donation .

You need to run DIS v57 and clear memory for his module. Easy to do, my work does take me around the country so if I'm passing more than happy to sort out. Nothing planned yet to come down your area.
