Bloddy scraped the Z4 along the top of a curb today. I was parked with a car to the left and MASSIVE curb to the right, and I obviously didnt pull forward enough before turning. I feared the worst and pulled up expecting the side skirt to be ripped off but it's only scraped the paint off........ still

I'll hoy a few pics on later to see if anyone has any ideas :(

Sorry to hear that :(

Have experience of UAE kerbs; BLOODY MASSIVE - no doubt to stop the idiots crossing the central reservation (which they try to do in the UAE on a regular basis!)

A combination of factors.

Higher speed limit than the UK - 86mph (but you can drive much faster without people batting an eye lid).
Lots of indian/pakistani drivers who got there license from a cornflake box.
Lots of Emiratis who drive fast and text at the same time (main problem).
No lane discipline - undertaking / overtaking, it's all the same here.

I've done that.

Haven't hit the side on a curb, but we are still getting used to figuring out when to stop from dragging the front over the curb when parking. Front end sticks out so far...

Commiserations to you, it's one of the worst feeling in the world, when you know you have damaged your car but haven't yet stopped to assess the damage and your imagination runs riot :(

Gutted... We have all done it atleast once! Hope its an easy repair.

Happens to us all... My car is now so low I live in fear of catching the side skirts, and once or twice a speed bump has caught the under side and it sounded like the skirt should have been ripped off

Same with the front bumper and parking - I now pretty much reverse into any parking space as I have discovered that the parking sensors seem to detect the edges of kerbs. If nothing else, the sound of a kerb parking incident in public is soul destroying if there are people around, as you just know people are thinking 'haha,w@nker in his nice car has scraped it to hell'...

you judge yourself to harshly Mr Bing :? although the nice car will be obvious the general public can't know what you are like
:P :D

have done the front skirt on kerb with Mrs W on board . i said don't flap the front skirt is on my "to do'" list .
"thank god" she replied " i did the same the first time i went out in the car but didn't dare tell you " :o

What do people think of this little mod if my side skirts are beyond repair? Would such a kit already come in standard BMW colours or would I be looking at a paint job too?

Damn curbs :headbang:

Sorry to hear that. About an hour after reading this I reversed out of a parking space and scrapped my front bumper along a wall :driving: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: so I feel your pain.

Any pics? Might be repairable. Ive just spent about 2 hours cleaning the area down, polishing it using a DA polisher usinga really agressive pad and polish combination and its much better.

Ouch :? I do feel for you,as others have said maybe time for some aero skirts :D also with a good compound you can ofen improve the look of the damage by 90-95% til you can get it repaired, best of luck & I realy hope it's not as bad as it sounded

Feel you pain mate, came out of the cinema to find someone had kindly reversed into my drivers door and f**ked off!!! :(
