Detailing Training - North West (Shinearama)

I'd say with a full day there we should be able to swap out cars to do bits of each, but obviously not a full detail of all of them (that's not the point of the day). I'll be in the Audi and have a few holograms, minor scratches and bird dropping marks I would like showing how to remove.

I have heard different manufacturers paints behave differently, so I am not too keen on just using one car exclusively, but it's a full day thing so am sure we can sort something out.

Other than that:

- Paint depth check (guess would be good for all of us)
- Clay technique (never sure i'm doing it right)
- Best way to clean the interior (or possibly best tools for the job)

I'd suggest we have a chat first thing and decide an order of play... depending on what time it's planned to go on til perhaps we could front-load the more "interesting to all" things earlier in the day so if anyone wants to make an early dash they can.

Looking forward to it, should be a good day :)

I need to be away by 3.45 as I have to be in M'cr city centre by 4.30 and as Utd are home I want to allow plenty of time. Hope there is somewhere to get changed.

I concur on the claying bit as I'm always worried I'm clearing the crap but creating scratches at the same time. :o

Guys,

My elderly father got rushed into hospital just after 3.00am this morning after collapsing at the nursing home he is in. My sister and I arrived at the hospital just after 5.30am but have not yet seen him as they are still doing doing tests to establish whether it was a heart attack, a stroke or a diabetes related issue.

With this in mind I won't make the detailing day today in Altrincham. I was so looking forward to getting an insight into how to clay a car properly and how to use a polisher without removing the top coat down to the primer. :(

I will ring Shinerama just before 9.00am to let them know I'm not attending just in case none of you read this message.

At least the remaining four of you will get to spend more time fine tuning your detailing skills.

Have a great day

Sent from my Nexus 4.

Juiceloose, this is sad, hope all is well, sorry you missed a good day but obviously you're priorities are with family

Nice to meet you guys, and sorry you couldn't make it Juiceloose, hope all is ok.

Bit of a trek to get there but well worth it...

yeah a good day all round i would say. Shame you couldn't make it juiceloose, hopefully everything is going to be ok.

We got the scratches out of the bonnet with ease and then did this :o

it came out tho... :D polishing with a sander and even a bit of wet sanding doesnt seem so scary now ...... just have to go out and get a polisher now :( and do the rest of the car!

I loved your face when he did that lol

Yeah, and if there's a bit in the corner not quite polished as well as the rest it's coz that chuffin great big aerial kept getting in the way!!

Thanks for your good wishes guys. Much appreciated.

Turns out that his heart rate hit 218 as a result of his diabetes coupled with a perforated duodenal ulcer. They operated on the ulcer on Saturday afternoon and whilst he is still in intensive care, he is at the moment holding his own so fingers crossed.

Looks like you all had a great day and learnt a lot in the process.

As for you allowing them to do that to your Z4 Dom.....very brave indeed but it just shows you what can be achieved. After removing that lot I'm guessing anything is possible!

glad hes ok thats the main thing.

i sort of knew that it would be ok but we'd been practicing on the boot before so it was pretty damn good anyway and then there was the noise... that high pitched screech of scratching paint... im sure my face was a pic. lol

but tbf it was damn good when we'd brought it back up!

Just heard these guys have ceased trading. Looks like they left the old unit where we had training, and hit some problems with the new place so had to shut up shop. Hope its not for ever, quite handy and sad to see them lose out if its a long term thing.
