Dealer valuation taking the P1**

I heard through an unreliable source that BMW were offering a blinding deal on the 125i at the moment so I thought I'd pop into the local stealers and see what was what. It turned out the deal didn't exist but i got them to run me a quote anyway and also give me a trade price for the Z just out of curiosity.

They not only broke my heart but literally ripped it out of my chest and trod all over it. Anyone care to guess what they offered me for a 2003 3.0 SE with only 55k miles in mint condition against a £28k car?

The question must have been too easy.

They offered £3200. It's a bad state when dealers are offering less that webuyanycar.com who although being renowned for ridiculously low offers value it at £4700.

Had a look at the sales board in the dealership and they were under 50% of their target on new car sales with only a few days left to go of the month/quarter. I'm looking forward to the phone call tomorrow asking me if I want to accept their offer :D

Usual question WHICH DEALER? :!:

Not doubt you will be going to 'We-Buy-Anycar' and then be able to do a better deal with no PX with 'The Dealer' :P

On a similar note just traded my wifes 325 for a new one. THE DEALER gave me £2k more than I anticipated (with no haggling) on the p.ex and with further haggling £2.5k of the price of new - so for me a saving of £4.5k (well a few more goodies in the new one........ )

Was the offer from W-B-A-C online, or done after inspection? From my experience moving out here when we needed a quick sale, the prince online is bull***t. They slashed it by a couple of grand after a 10 minute inspection :x

Douglas Park Glasgow. Name and shame the barstewards :D

I won't be trading in or or selling via webuyanycar. I wasn't seriously looking to change. I only really went in because I have this disease which means I can't stop looking at, pricing and test driving cars, it's a terrible affliction but I feel I'm on the mend as at least I no longer feel the need to buy every one I test drive :)

Just look at the upside - come insurance renewal, when they ask you how much your car is worth, you can state it is worthless :D

I sold my wifes old car through them and got the online price without any argument. If you are totally honest on the state of the car through the online quote then they don't really have anything to argue about.

God that's a shocking price. Especially as they probably wouldn't AUC it so no prep costs - it would just get shipped off to the auction.

With prices being that low, it won't be long before you see some neglected, sorry looking zeds around with odd looking owners :(

You reckon? I don't think it's that low for a car if that age.

Yes I do. Private sale that would be £6k ish wouldn't it? Seems a very wide spread on a car they wouldn't be AUC'ing IMO.

You have been on a Z trip recently then as well

I just think that some people expect too much from dealers. By the time any niggles are sorted, paintwork done, warranty as been added, new mot and tax, it doesn't leave that much of a margin for the dealer. They may auction it, but the Indy dealer that buys it still needs to add all those things.

I sell boats and need to value part exchange boats all the time. Especially at this time of year, people have unrealistic expectations.

I'd agree its a little low, but not hugely so. A dealer valued our 2004 facelift Civic 1.6 Sport 40k the other day as part exchange, £2k.
