DCT fluid change ? Yes / No ?

Changed DCT oil today see pictures and make up your own mind .Sump plate was covered in sludge that I couldn,t really photograph , both filters were black this at 40K exactly , lifetime my bum . Anyone in Newcastle area wants it done PM me and I will give you the name who did mine excellent job.

How long did it take to do? Are you noticing any differences with the gearbox?
FCP Euro sells service kits from Pentosin and Liqui Moly for about $215. Includes filter and drain and fill plugs. My 35i has 94K miles and I don't think the fluid has ever been changed. Hmmm. Shifts like a dream. Hmmm.
I'm following this with interest as well. I have about 47,000mi on mine and would love to get the DCT oil/filter(s) changed just as a maintenance item, but I also read that horror story a while back and it's made me nervous about getting it done.
It seems like a very involved method of changing the oil (multiple steps) with the potential for a lot to go wrong.

I'm having the debate with myself whether to get the DCT oil change done by the indie in Reading and based upon what I have read in this thread and references elsewhere I'm torn on the idea.
Currently c. 79k miles and I am pretty confident it hasn't been done in the past.
What do people think? Should I or not?

This is a difficult one, I've heard of back axles sealed and filled for life but not gearboxes.
Porsche require the DCT on a Macan to have an oil and filter change at 40K and since there can only be a very limited number of DCT box makers I would guess its the same box.
Where level indicators are not available, I suggest that if you do have it done, get the oil removed, carefully measured (volume), and put precisely the same volume of new oil, back. This principle worked well for me on a Rover 75 where little consistent info. was available. I know it was an auto box but it worked fine before the oil change and just as well after.

Funny enough, last week I was given the details of a place here that say they can do these jobs, ie, they know the procedures to follow to correctly change oil in DCT (and VAG DSG) boxes. I'm thinking the 'lifetime' oil's probably about due for a change on mine . But there's always the worry that you may create a problem where there wasn't one before...

It is a tricky one.
I went to see a BMW specialist in Peterborough and their recommendation was not to change the oil unless I had a specific problem with the gearbox.
The 35is uses a getrag box.
Specifically it uses the following model: Getrag GS7-D36SG
This is also the same box used in the 135i, 335i , 35i, 35is, E92 M3
Could be well worth looking in to E92 M3's owners forums given that they are older than the 35is and seeing how many users have changed the lifetime oil etc.
