ive now decided (literally in the last 5mins) that i want to treat myself to something new for my car as ive been waiting for the last month to get my skirts and rear //M bumper all sprayed etc.

so i want a dashcam, i think ive decided i want a 0806  my question is what else do i need for it?

0806 dashcam (is there just 1 brand/make of this as i keep seeing different names?)
sd cards (which size/speed etc??)
hard wire kit (to wire into mirror housing??)

so far ive found a 0806 on ebay for £84.99 delivered, is there anywhere else cheaper that people know of

Just make sure your not buying a knock off copy. I used the power supply that came with mine. Modified it so I could connect it to the purple/white wire by the rear view mirror.

Most are knock off copies.

I bought mine from the UK dealer: http://www.combi.org.uk/categories/6/Mini-0801-DVR

On that website, you can see the SD cards that will fit. I got that from Amazon.

ok so cam on its way, just got the hardwire kit and now looking at which micro SD card to get?

will all class 10 cards work? heres a cheap 128g card off ebay for under a fiver.... will this work fine?

I've heard stories of certain cards playing up - even good brands such as Samsung. I've got a Samsung 64GB in my tablet and it's fine, not tried it in the dashcam which has a 32GB Kingston.

yea ive heard a couple of people saying they have had issues, yet others have got cheap and cheerful and never had a problem... think ill just try my luck and see what happens lol

I installed it as to leave and forget, but would not want to rely on a bad sd card though just when I needed it ...

true, could you link to a "good" sd card tho, i have no idea of makes etc.

all i know is it needs to be class 10 minimum, is UHS overkill or needed aswell?

not sure how big ill need either 2 x 128gb is probs overkill aswell

I have a blackvue, and their advice is to take the micro SD card out an reformat 'regularly'. I reformat it monthly.

heres a 128gb class 10, UHS1 micro sd for under £16 delivered but i cant imagine its a "quality" brand inside?

I swear by Lexar:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexar-Professional-128GB-UHS-II-Memory/dp/B00OD712HG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441194743&sr=8-1&keywords=lexar+128+class+10

Had a few other brand cards in the past and a few of them went bad... lexar I've never had a provlem with (link has all their sizes)

I have the transcend drivepro 220 ,on my daily driver not on the Z but its a great camera and its wifi enabled so you can download without any messing about with wires etc to a laptop or tablet plus there is a free android & iphone app

32Gb on my mini 0806 gives approx. 4h HD recording time - two card slots too. Get a card and try it out - if it's junk send it back :)

I've got the mini 0806 too but I'm only using a single 64GB card as they haven't got the automatic switching between 'Card A' and 'Card B' sorted yet, despite a couple of firmware updates, so I wouldn't rely on that feature until they finally release a firmware version that fixes the issue

oh right, i wasn't aware of this issue? so its best to just use 1 card as it is for the time being then update in the future when this is fixed then maybe add a 2nd card?

That's what I've done - a 64GB card is cheap and offers plenty of recording time.

The latest firmware update says 'improved card switching' but the feedback from people who've tried it says it doesn't really and it's bound to fail when you're on an impressive hoon and lose the bit of video that you really wanted. You can still use two cards if you want but just don't rely on it continuously switching the recording between the two as they fill up.

It's worth buying the CPL Filter with the 0806 as it really does cut down on the reflections but you have to ensure that you rotate it into the correct position - here's a couple of comparison shots I did for PVR, I couldn't be arsed to get the car out of the garage but it actually worked out better as there's a number of lights and those directly over the car created more reflections than normal sunlight

CPL in worst position (pretty much the same as no CPL)

Except it's not that simple, you will only tell it's junk when you have an incident, put the card in the computer and find the file is corrupt. Best to spend a few quid on a branded card, else what is the point in getting a dashcam if you can't trust the storage media?
