Dashboard cameras - recommendations?

Figuring out mounts and picture shots is part of the fun with a HD cam! Its surprising how many ways you can improvise using things that serve other functions

I don't mind spending the money, but for me for what I want it for I would find it hard to justify spending hundreds of pounds on a camera for forum runs etc, but appreciate what you have said Toe-side. I would be more than happy to spend up to £100, so guess I am still looking for suitable and acceptable alternatives :)

Lots on eBay. Look for camera dash mount. - they are normally standard tripod fixing unlike go pro

I have been using GoPro for 3 years, never had a problem and it's been stuck on my Hayabusa at some rather silly speeds, both with the 3M mounts and the suction cup, great results, waterproof, shock proof and takes a decent size SD card, on the bike I leave mine shooting at 2 second intervals and can get a days riding on one card. I wouldn't look at the cheaper options, not worth it.

I keep looking at these and would only go for a small discrete one that could be hard wired and automatically switch itself on to record and off.

For forum runs I borrow works GoPro when I can find it.
 
The 3 has a remote...... is that the one you borrow?
Handy function for wild life pics.
The GP2 that I have only has manual functions

Just finished testing and installing mine this afternoon. Found an ignition live to the wiper sensor behind the mirror, so spliced into that. Mounted a 12v in to 5v usb out in the roof void above the interior light cluster, so now the camera starts recording each time I turn the ignition on and ends when I switch off. Set to run on a 32gb sim so should be good for 15 hours before the oldest video get deleted.

All I need to do is finalise the position of the camera behind the mirror and change from sucker mount to 3m pad mount for neatness and all done :thumbsup:

I was wondering if anybody has any experience of The mini 0801 camera. Reviews and the price look very tempting. I also like the fact the camera is small so won't be so noticable. http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/8/31/the-mini-0801-tiny-1080p-gps-car-camera-with-an-lcd-screen.html

The sample clips also look very good.
 
Just got a Fat Gecko suction mount for my Sony Videocam, cheaper to get the mount than buy a new system. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
the mount is rock solid... should be good results.

I've also used a Muvi Veho for some years which was decent enough.

The cheap e-bay ones I've found to stutter I guess as they don't run enough frames. I've usually found light contrast to be the biggest problem with these cams, i.e. underexposure.
