Dash trim removal

Hi chaps can't find the post i want to dismantle the piece of trim on the dash that fits around radio and across to passenger side wanting to wrap this trim can anyone send step by step guide thanks in advance
 
The brushed aluminium part? Remove the airvents, 2 clips one in the middle at the top of each vent, unclip them with a pair of small screwdrivers and pull the vents out, then 2 screws for the radio, I think 2 more holding the ally trim on behind the vents, the rest is held on by push clips that will release as you pull the trim forward, apart from one at the door end, that has a pin going through it that you have to remove from the back, gotta remove the air vent for that, one screw under a little black cover at the top, one under the cup holder/blank where the cupholder would be if you don't have one.
 
As said above .i struggled to get the clip out at the back on the l h side u have to pinch it in then pull upwards20170319_160425.jpg20170319_160448.jpg
 
On a side note to this. The big silver trim in top of the trans tunnel. Does the entire centre console have to actually come out to remove this? By the looks of it it should just pry off? Or is it actually bonded down?

Yep, you need to remove the rear panel with the flap in, then remove the trans tunnel piece to get to the 30 screws that hold the trim piece in place.

+1. It's a bit of a mission. Bmw really didn't want the centre console trim coming off when they built these cars. Perversely the trim is much better secured to the centre console than the centre console is to the rest of the car.
 
Yep, I did it this year, essentially your dismantling most of the interior, I'm not experienced by any means but took my time over a few days and it all worked out, see this thread:
