I spend the week away at work with my car on the drive... And the roof is always covered in cat hair. Working at home today... And caught the critter.

Little bugger even clawed your numberplate off......

 i think that'll work with the police

Looks a cute cat. Go and cuddle it. It'll work one of two ways :- either you'll make a new friend or after you've tried it a couple of times it'll come nowhere near you!

My wife's cat got shot with an air gun, joking aside I really don't understand how people do such things.

He looks like he's staring you out... :D
I had exactly the same problem with my Elise roof, over a 3 year period the local cats wrecked the stitching where they stretched their claws.
I found a quick squirt over the side gate with a hose used to shift them pronto, but they'd be back within 10 minutes.
Eventually I had to use a shower cap cover at all times which used to be a pain in the butt.

Regarding your number plate, do they get nicked round your way or something?

Ingredients:

1 tin of cat food
1 cardboard box
1 roll of tape

1 long road trip.........
Goodbye kitty.

Hate cats, especially the fact if you complain to their owners about the damage they are causing to your car they simply dont care. I'd love to get a huge dog and plonk it on the top of their car and see how they like it!!!!

and as a cat owner just what would you like the owners to do about it? it isnt like we can keep them on a leash...

In law I believe cats are treated differently from dogs in that it's accepted that they roam. However, we have a pedigree
Havana and he is a house cat so no problem getting up to mischief. I've seen too many cats come to grief on roads.

roaming versus house cats is a whole other debate though...

a cat who is allowed to roam (as they do in the wild) does not enjoy being cooped up everyday, they are after all creatures of habit and aren't always receptive to change...

In my five years owning my z4 our cats never went near the roof of it, the neighbours cat however did - but never caused any harm either to the hood (other than hair which frankly is easy to remove with a vacuum cleaner) or the paintwork. Depends on the cat I suppose...

Just have this image in my head now....

The thing is if a cat wants to go somewhere or do something, it will damn well do it regardless of what you think, say or do. The only way you can win is by somehow making it think it doesn't want to do it!

Why not keep it on a leash. It would be the responsible thing to do.

I appreciate that people have a right to keep an animal as a pet, but others have a right to their own (in this case) expensive property, without the risk of it being damaged by a cat.

Yes My paintwork has been scratched on my current and last car, and the owner of the moggy doesn't give a damn. If I can find something effective I will use it; shotguns are out (for now) as I don't want to damage the car……..
