Custom Z4 Gear knob by Storm

I have one ...

I do much prefer the weight / feel of the knob, so the gearchange feels easier as well. Just remember when installing it that you must press quite hard on the knob before turning the screw in otherwise it does not go in the groove of the lever itself.

Ok. I am very interested (have been for ahwhile) but I'm also concerned. How is the shifter in sunlight? Not the glare...that won't bother me, but the heat! I'm in good ol Vegas where even at night it's in the 90s, during the day 114 F degrees. Parts that are in the sun are generally almost untouchable....so if I got this would I need to keep gloves with me?

I have one on my Z4, the company is really good 5* and the gear knob is spot on.

I was waiting for them to sort the location for the hand brake and get one of those too....

Would be interested to hear how the hand brake is going.

Cheers

It looks nice. I want one. I just am worried about putting my hand on it mid afternoon and getting 2nd degree burns

I'd like to see a pic of the handbrake in the Z4 preferebly with the knob. I'm thinking they would compliment each other very well. Are some just darker metal than the one PVR & Phil posted?

Will be interested to hear about the handbrake mate....... a year on and its still not been tried??

Cheers

Ps Will defo order one when confirmed with photos and its mod free.

Hi,

Well luck shouldn't come into it if you measurements and his tie up..... :D

Does the Z4 bare handle OD match up with the New knob ID?

Hope it looks the business.

Cheers

Hehe, yeah. Worse come to worse I'll just get a sunshade and that should solve all my problems  Now I guess it's trying to decide what would look better with the stock red interior with grey aluminum brush dashboard, the Titanium or regular one.

Not to worry about the heat. I've had a solid aluminium knob for almost a year and have found heat not to be a problem (keeping in mind that I've been accused of being insensitive numerous times by my wife  ). In an extreme condition, you could always cover the shifter knob with a cover/sock while you're out of the car.

PVR, if I may ask: What is the largest diameter of the knob? It looks slightly smaller then the Whalen. Thanks

Sweet takes for the pic lawnmower__man, that plus Incompatible's good words about the heat works for me.
I was thinking the standard one would go better with the interior of the car, but the pic really show's that off.
Now just need to decide if I want to drop cash on the handbrake as well.

For now I'll just go for the knob...where do we sign up?

No probs!

Bilal's a good lad and if you're really worried about the heat, he also sent me a link to a removeable nappa leather cover for it.

I didn't take him up on the offer but here's a link to the pic of it: http://www.storm-motorwerks.com/bilals_images/Cover/covercarside.jpg

Hope that helps. :)
