curborough sprint course is my home circuit, being a member since i was 16 now its great that this very technical sprint course is still alive, they have some fabulous events going on in the summer months and i will always be a member, it seems i may be able to get the keys to the course for a day next year after alittle discussion with the course sec, i was wondering if anyone here would be willing to come along for a trackday, it would be a bring your car, we lock the gates and have fun trackday, this track isnt the easiest for beginners but is infact huge fun, when i had my car s/c'd i had to drive like a daisey but soon got back on pace, the mole hill will give you possible nightmares, the fradly hairpin is great for alittle sideways action, if we run on a 3 lap basis, the cars will not be stressed and you are on the track alone as its a sprint course , you can go as slow as you wish, which i do reguarly when im not in the mood to go for it, but if your willing to give it full beans you will have a fantastic time, thats a promise, depending on the overall amount of cars i would love to think we could get 15-20 people their and have a cracker of a day, who knows maybe i will be able to get a formal event going once a year were z4s will have their own event, heres some pics ive got, not the best as they have not intentionally been to get the course if you get me. Before you say...... i no..... i need a new camera. Maybe this could be the start of an official z4 clubday???

To get an idea of how the circuit runs, this is the video andy took of me when doing my data logs

i dont have any actual photos of just the course unfortunatly but will aim to get some if need be, i reckon between 15-20 people we can do a FULL trackday for around 50-60 quid per person based on what it costs to get the track hired for a day, im hoping i will get a decent discount due to my continued membership and also i always help set the track up and put it away every year at my own costs.

so to summerize....... A mixture of Zeds, we could maybe stick some food on, maybe have a concourse section going at the end of the day, a track session, and basically a good old chin wag between us lot, and for my projected costs of 50-60 nuggets you cant go wrong imo. I will stress the course isnt really suitable for beginnners, curborough has very little run off and is unforgiving, but remember were not racing, its all in the name of fun so we can go as slow as we please, i will only run @ 100% a few days of the year and most the time just go briskly with fun in mind.

wouldnt it be great to maybe end up with a dedicated Z4 day hat we can look forward to each year? of course ALL Zeds are will be welcome, wether you ahve a 2.0l or a v10 converted z4m, lol....... i wish!!

Don't need to even ask as I'd be there. Put a good few 'laps' in and it's just about 5 miles from my front door

Great idea

Too true about the Molehill - scares the life out of me given the speed you can gain round Paddock and Woodside, before you reach it.

Don't want to sound like a killjoy, but from organising (or trying to organise) private events for different car clubs/forums over the last 10 years, there are a few questions that have regularly cropped up, that I thought I'd throw into the hat for discussion, namely:
  • Is it a 'private' day, or a S&DCC organised track day
  • Is the hire fee for the track access only, or does it include everything needed for a track day (see following questions)
If the hire fee only covers the cost to hire the circuit, then:
  • what's the status with regard to public liability insurance
  • any car insurance you have is invalid (track day insurance won't cover it as it's not a recognised organiser/car club, road insurance won't cover it as it's private land/race circuit)
  • what are/will be the arrangements for fire, ambulance, rescue vehicles & equipment, marshals, etc.

never been on a track, the thought scares me, sounds like this could be a nice meet though

its a private day, owners attend at the their risk, just as i do when i attend the curborough MEMBERS days, the fee is just for me to cover costs for the hire of the circuit thats all, mmm-five this day will be run like any other members day at curborough, im just trying to get a few people together to run round a small strip of land and have a good chin wag, you asking questions like this is silverstone, this is a Cheap day for zeds to come together talk, go on circuit if they wish to, and just have a fun day, please please please dont blight this with unneccessary legal mumbo jumbo, its as simple as this, you attend at your own risk and just take care and be bloody careful, or if for any reason you dont want to, no-one is being forced to attend, i really dont think it can be anymore simple than that really............... their must be 30 days in the summer where curborough is hired out to different forums, audi tt forums, golf forums, ford Rs club, they all run at their own rsk, turn up and have fun, its as simple as that.

on the curborough members days we have ferraris, audi r8s all running the track at a pace where they comfortable, that exactly what us adults ahve to do on this day, take it easy and have fun, also this day isnt just about the sprint, its also about everyone coming together, seeing all the faces to the names....... Just remember m-5 no-one is forcing you to come, this is a post to see if people are interested in a z4 day, some people may wish to attend just to see all the z4s parked up together and have a look at everyones different mods ect ect i have to say m-5 its a real shame youve slanted this towards this direction.... im just trying to organise a fun day that will cost peanuts!! simples!!

im hoping to get the costs to towards the 40quid mark, @ this price, who can complain, and this must be seen in the vain its meant, this isnt a proper 200quid donnington race day, its abit of fun thats all.

taz this isnt just about the circuit, you can just use it as a meet if you wish, but just do what ive done over the years, you go a slow as you please and build yourself upto a comfortable pace, anyone that bends their car on a fun day like this is planned as is being silly, hell on some Sdcc members day we got grannies coming round in the mini's, harmless fun which is off the public roads. i promise you will gave the most fun ever.......

Even if this doesnt happen due to lack of number ill get andy up their with me, grab my family, lock the gates and just have fun..........

Good man!!!

good, im glad people are seeing for what it is....... i dont want to get hopes up but i reckon ill be able to get this for £40 per person which is freakin amazing..... everythink else out their runs 150 + at the end of the day were all adults, take your time, have fun, leave the lairy stuff to people that feel they can, you go round @ 30mph if you want, i personally would love to just meet everyone and see all the cars, i reckon this event could be great for the z4 forum and would be so nice to take this club alittle further and REALLY get to know each other, put some names to faces, maybe do alittle concourse show n shine thing, some food, alittle beer tent and BBQ for the end...... sounds great imo!!! Even @ £60 that would be a bargain, one thing is do no 55-60 is an absolute max.... im aiming for the 40quid mark and im certain i can nail that or get very close.

Z4 Nation day.......... sounds good if you ask me ;-)

Even when i properly compete at this place i always run with what im comforable with ......... i must have drove this track now maybe 40times and all i have is great memories and pics ;-)

Sorry if my post came over the way it has :o

I wasn't trying to be obstructive, I was simply trying to clarify the status of the day, so that everyone who attends understands where they stand before there's an incident and they start talking about suing, etc. Better to get it sorted beforehand, than try to sort it out afterwards. :(

Just seen it happen a few times in the past (admittedly only 2 or 3 times in 15 years) between forum/club members who thought they'd have a bit of a fun on a cheap day until there's an incident, and wouldn't want anyone on here to have to go through what they did.

As for the track itself, I've enjoyed both marshalling & driving there, and the hot meal at lunchtime for marshals was one of the better incentives that circuits give out (some offer nothing at all).

PS, one of the big benefits of Curborough over other circuits is the fact they they tend not to run multiple cars on track at once, which massively reduces the chances of car-to-car contact

no no m5 i do undersant what you mean but equally we have to take into context what is meant with this day also.......... but i understand you just want people to understand their liability so excuse me for my end of the week pissed of style post......

i hope to maybe meet you their :-)

I'm definitely interested, and the Molehill doesn't scare me

the molehill is scary when you approach @ 60mph, braking hard on the off camber corners unsettles the car and is a really test of your car control.

I've been looking to get on a track since I got my m coupe, few friendly faces to impart some wisdom would be a big help!
