CSL reps v CSL ....again

Picking up the Z4M Friday :D . Yeehaaa!

First mod; CSL wheels. I know this has been done to death but .... I really can't afford a set of CSL 19" wheels PLUS tyres (about £2k on ebay) so is there any real-world reason why these CSL reps from BM Autosport who seem to have a good reputaton on here :

http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/product_info.php/new-spoke-alloys-satin-gunmetal-with-deeper-concave-et45-rearrare-fitment-p-3609?cPath=51_27_134_46

.... won't do the trick instead?? Look almost identical esp in satin silver. I know the pukka CSL wheels are OEM, lighter, far superior quality etc etc BUT I'm never gonna take it on the track, prob only do about 6k miles a year, not fussed about tenths of a second differences etc etc.

Also anyone got these reps on their Z4M?

Why not try these... they look even better & then yours would be ORIGINAL rather than keeping up with the Cardasians

I have had CSL's on both my Z4M's and on my 3.0si coupe..

The fact that i am here typing this means that they didnt explode/implode,detonate at 50mph/crack/deform/fart in the face of adversity..

Get them on.....Whats the problem...

Theres a load of pros and cons. But in my mind why buy the real thing and put fake wheels on it?

Keep it OEM, the CSLs will hold their value and you will sell them for what you paid if not more. The reps on the other hand wont.

If your lucky and some mug doesnt put them up on the forum for everyone to fight over you might get them for a decent price

Got mine for £850 perfect nic and about £750 for a set of Vreds £1600

Buy a good set of reps £550-600 then £750 for some tyres the price isnt a huge amount different...

Check out the Sportline CS.16. They are flow-formed and lighter than OEM wheels, meaning they are better performing as well as very durable. The finish is powdercoated instead of painted, so it will chip rather than peel off in chunks should it be damaged. Disclaimer - I'm not sure what local laws you have regarding aftermarket wheels!

i got my rep's from Mstyle and very happy with them, they've been on the car for more than three years now and look as good as when they first put on my///MC

CSLs do look the mutts nuts, but do they actually offer any performance gain over the standard 224's?

The 224's are quite a bit lighter than the CSLs and I've heard that CSLs also hinder the ride of the M (obviously this is hear'say as I've not had both).

That said, if you want CSLs, I agree with Tom that £600 for reps and £750 for tyres or £1000-1200 for CSLs and £750 for tyres isn't a huge difference (£1350 v £1750/ £1950). I'd save up a few months longer and go OEM.

Its strange, but I prefer the ride on the CSLs than the 224s feels much more planted. Put my CSLs back on in May and they feel so much better, got MPS on the 224s and vreds on the CSLs.

I do have lowering springs too the ride is less crashy with the CSLs. But I think im in the minority with that view.

Yep...

But they need a refurb and the tyres although good makes are low and chamfered off.... No thanks for that kinda money.

The OEM 19's ?

I think the wheels look lovely when in OEM finish but look crap in black... Tyres are ok,but wouldnt want them sizes on a Z....

I've just taken the plunge & bought a set today - genuine (hopefully :? ) BBS CSL alloys with the correct 8.5 rims / ET 44 on the front :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19-INCH-CSL-A ... 1c3590d745

This set I bought for £900.00 - if you do it away from ebay & pay by card over the phone it avoids the sellers fees & a saves you £100.00  .

Perry was the guy I spoke to, really helpful & knowledgeable. He said he's done & fitted a few Z4M's with tyres with these exact same wheels and "they fit perfectly". Without any hesitation he recommended 235/35's front / 265/30's rear which is a popular choice on here so he does seem to know his CSL wheels with Z4M's! I was at pains to ask about their authenticity, he said they are guaranteed genuine BBS with all the paperwork from BBS but if I'm not happy / convinced when I get them a full refund is guaranteed.

When I asked why they are a lot cheaper than what BMW flog them for he said BBS have recently started to sell them to wholesalers like them who obviously don't put the 90% whatever it is mark-up what BMW do.

I know it's a gamble on ebay but hey, I was convinced.

Also whilst they do CSL wheel & tyre combo's eg) Continental SC 5's @ £1850.00 incl CSL wheels, I shopped around & it cheaper getting the tyres from Event-tyres, e-tyres etc incl fitting. Think I'm going for the Vredsteins, they get great reviews on here & good price.

Should be getting the CSL's in about 4 days 8) .

I think you've mentioned this set on a few threads here...are you on a commission

Nope it's a different set. I keep looking on cutters as I'm looking for a set of wheels myself (cant decide hat to go for) and they seem to have a decent variety for sale almost o n a daily basis.
