FInally had a few days off after sorting a few other minor issues with the car and started on this.

Had this hardware at my house for a while, took quite some time to sort the mounting/extra bits and pieces required to make this work.

New OEM CSL TB boots, and OEM clamps. :tumbleweed: (yes they are my pyjama pants cut in bits inside the TB.)

Alpha - N tune by Randy from middle_Epic_Logo__2_colors__1_.jpg
Still need to fit top Vacuum line and then fit the snorkel, thats going to be the difficult bit.

Very nice buddy!!
I was v tempted but I've got a blue eventuri fitted
Cost of that piece of eye candy?

Very nice mate. I presume you've gone alpha-n map with this? Who did it for you?
It is THE best noise imo, I wouldn't be without mine! Enjoy!!

ETA: didn't read the bottom of your post, thanks. Are you considering new cams? It's kind of worth it

That is insanely awesome. I always forgot just how full-on the CSL intake is compared to something like the GruppeM or Eventuri.

Tom, yep considering cams, but that won't make the budget till end of the year/early next year.

Beanie, yup, i hear ya mate :driving:

Thanks guys, hopefully over the next 2 days off before i head off to Bali, should be able to get this done.. :tumbleweed:

Ill post up some more stuff when I've done something.. hopefully i won't have to dremel the snorkel too much.. if at all.. :(

The prep for the snorkel has started.

Shows the difference between the OEM air intake inlet and the CSL intake size... roughly about 4 x bigger. :tumbleweed:

One Karbonious CSL Snorkel. Note huge intake size.. :P

Nearly done, snorkel only left to be fitted, but of course judging by the size, something will need to give. :headbang:

This thing really is HUGE... :driving:

And then finally .. its on!

You also note the new vacuum line i needed to make exiting out of the top of the intake, this one goes to the OEM elbow one.

Pretty happy with how this turned out. I just hope it has access to enough air. :poke: :D

Now gotta solder up the IAT plug and wire, then install the tune.. hopefully finished before my Bali trip.

No. I only needed to dremel 4 cm of the very bottom, and it comes down in a point to fit exactly against the rubber from the OEM inlet. I did however trim that rubber down on one side... Very happy with how this turned out. :icb:

Pic of cut off end.

Ok, ran into a big stuff up, .. Bloody IAT probes…

so as i have the Epic tune, which suggests that you need the bimmerworld IAT (inlet air temp probe) kit, so bought that, i also stuffed up while ordering some other bits and pieces, and accidentally ordered the actual CSL IAT probe.. (38euros or something like that).. anyways.. looking at it now, i should have seen that straight away that the Bimmer world IAT probe was never, ever going to fit this CSL intake.. so luckily i had the CSL temp probe.. I just hope that both do exactly the same thing.. plugs are the same, only 2 wires, so i have high hopes. I guess Karbonious models its intake exactly of the OEM one, and thats probably also why this thing fit like a glove. (the intake) the CSL IAT also fits exactly. very cool.

pics to follow so you guys don't make the same stuff up as i do. ...

So you accidentally ordered the wrong probe, but it's all good because you also accidentally ordered the correct one?

Nothing wrong with that... outstanding work, in fact. :D

Great work so far mate.

Brave doing this yourself. As long as you know what wires go where then you will be fine and totally worth it.

Will you be grtting the csl flap working?
Also why not get the csl map instead of alpha n?

all sorted, now just need to wire/solder up the MAF connector end.

Thanks Ba3bas, much appreciated.

No flap on my snorkel. Flap is for sound (road rego only), so not required here for me, also to get the flap motor working you need the original OEM CSL DME, or know someone that can clone it, including modding the H bridge to it, and a few other bits and pieces. And once more its only to limit the noise at low rpm. So yeah def not required on my car.

The CSL map is supposed to be very nice, but not all Alpha N software is the same. Randy at Epic is supposed to be the master magician and have read many very positive reviews, and his Alpha N maps are race proven. <-- and temp proven from racing in Airzona, where it can get about as hot as where I live. :driving:

threads like these make me so sad that I sold my M, good work I can't wait to hear it!! it looks the mutts!
