Cruise Control - WHICH PIN? ** UPDATE** - coding?

Brilliant - thanks all involved. Very glad to hear that it looks like this should get it sorted for us all! Half tempted to pop outside now and have a go but will probably need to wait for the weekend. First to get it sorted post your updates here...

That tick box on my order sheet for £150 was sooo much easier :P

The ///M is a different story though as you arent meant to be able to retrofit CC at all, although we know Andy has had it done.

Well, just connected it up and low and behold there is indeed a 42-pin black plug with pin 39 empty. So off for a test drive now, fingers tightly crossed...

Yes didnt think I would be needing it yet but with the snow before xmas, then the xmas break, and this lot of snow it's only been driven twice in about 4 weeks, only difference is I have a new battery, but dont want a repeat of last time.

All good! Conditions not the best for a test drive but all works!!

Kicking myself for not having searched harder for this elusive 42 pin plug in the first place, but very glad it's working, and very glad I haven't got to pay to get my DME repaired.

So it turns out the BMW destructions are correct after all, even if the photos aren't...

Go for it Steve, Jamie and anyone else!

By the way, I haven't found an easy way to route the blue wire from the DME to the other electrics box where the plug is - looks like a case of getting it through some rubber grommets.

You mean from the inside of the bonnet to the inside of the car? There are grommets where I fed my wires through for the parking sensor.

Hi,

Pleased it worked for you, worth more than the £200 it saved in satisfaction alone for me!.

I'm now sweating in Jakarta, looking after a couple of BAe (British waste of space) turbo props, wish they were made by BMW life would be easy!.

Booked my return ticket for April,,,,,,,,,,Hmmmm,,,,,,,,nice sports car weather!.

Cheers

Will order my leads now and install when it get's a little warmer.

As said I will also do a "How To" as I think it will be very useful for future members.

Good stuff Steve - there are a few fiddly bits which would be good in a proper write up.
I really should have done mine - but it was getting dark - but then i couldnt have finised it until now! :)
